10 Quick Quinoa Recipes

By , SparkPeople Blogger
Quinoa pronounced KEEN-Wah has quickly become a staple in my cooking. I love that it is quick and easy to prepare, has outstanding nutritional value and is allergy-free. Since it cooks through in less than 20 minutes, it is a useful grain substitute in just about any recipe. A single serving is high in healthy fats, fiber protein, iron, magnesium phosphorus, and riboflavin.  Quinoa is also gluten free! Increase your nutritional grain options with these quick and convenient Quinoa recipes.

Inspired by this article i cooked up a small pot of quinoa. This was from a new bag by Earthly Choice. It has a distinct bitter taste that i've never noticed before with quinoa. Anyone else experienced this? Report

I hadn't realised that quinoa is a good source of protein. I'm always looking for ways to get more protein into my meals and this is great - thank you! Report
Thanks for these! We bought some quinoa to try awhile back, and I confess I wasn't really sure what to do with it :o. That Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Quinoa sounds fantastic! Am going to try making that, but with almond milk instead of soy :-) Report

I find a lot of people overlook the fast instant breakfast that can be made with Quinoa flakes. Put some in a bowl. Add boiling water and stir until desired thickness. Add favourite toppings. I use it when backpacking for a quick nutritious breakfast on the trail as it does not require any cooking beyond the hot water but it also works well for an instant breakfast at home.

I would like to try it but I am not sure where to buy it in Canada. Report
I bought some Quinoa and cooked it once. Love the flavor! It makes more than I thought. Problem for me it was the kind you wash. Didn't enjoy that. :) I am interested in using it more and these are some very appetizing recipes. Quinoa is very healthy for us so I'm going to try to use up what I've bought. Thanks for all the recipes. I'm all for eating what's healthy and the various ways I can enjoy it. Report
