At SparkPeople, we love helping people accomplish big goals—but we believe it's equally important to celebrate the small successes along the way. Each week in the Spark Spotlight, we'll in with a featured member about his or her proudest moments, biggest challenges and advice for others on living, thinking and feeling healthier. We hope these quick snapshots will help motivate you to keep moving steadily toward your own goals, week by week.
This Week's Spotlight: Brenda (POGIRL17)
Location: Frenchtown, New Jersey
Brenda's Small Success of the WeekAfter falling off the nutrition wagon, instead of beating herself up, Amber pinpointed what went wrong and made a plan to move on.
What's your overall goal?
My overall goal is to gain control of my weight by obliterating at least 100 unwanted pounds and ultimately obtain optimal health. I'm happy to report that with each passing day, my recently adopted healthy habits are aiding me in getting closer to these goals. I'm at 88 pounds down and counting.
How is SparkPeople helping you get there?
Daily tracking of my nutritional intake on SparkPeople is a great tool I'm utilizing on my journey. I continue to be inspired as I read many Community Feed posts, and am encouraged by responses made by members from all over the world. SparkPeople connects us members with a warm, caring and comforting camaraderie.
What's your biggest challenge right now?
My biggest challenge right now is exercise. Although I've increased my daily movement considerably from what was my obesogenic existence, I still struggle to gain consistency. I'm working on it; I have no doubt I will eventually get there.
What advice do you have for someone who just joined SparkPeople today?
I agree with many other members when it's said that when someone new joins SparkPeople, just jump right in with both feet. Test the waters. Joining a team that you can relate to helps your journey to be that much more enjoyable, and less tedious. We are all here for one reason or another...it is wonderful to have such support abundantly available.
