Sunday my wife was shredding lettuce to fix dinner and was upset about something she read in the newspaper and not focusing on what she was doing. She called for help to bandage her cut index finger, but after we bandaged it, the bleeding did not stop. Two times I helped her bandage the finger and two times she took the bandage off so we could bandage it again. I suggested we go and get it stitched but she did not want to go to urgent care, so I told her she just have to sit still and leave the third bandage be, while I finished the preparations for dinner. That worked. Afterwards, we watched the Academy Awards presentation on TV and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning my wife was fixing a fire in the wood burning stove, so I got dressed and started washing the dishes from last night. There was a big pan in the sink with cold water and the dinner dishes. No sooner then when I emptied the cold water began running hot water but letting the cold water that was in the pipe go down the drain, my wife started to complained about not conserving the water. She said first of all there were not that many dishes, and I should wait until after breakfast. Also, she said I could have heated the cold water on the stove if I didn't like to wash the dishes in cold water. She is always afraid that our well will run dry because two of our neighbors had dry wells and each had to pay around 9 thousand dollars to have new wells drilled.
After breakfast I washed the dishes, and later was sitting still at the table and my wife asked if I was thinking about getting onto the computer. I said no, that I was thinking about how the well did not go dry during the summer drought, and therefore it won't go dry in the winter by letting the water go down the drain; since, it goes right out to the septic field and makes its way back to the water table to be drawn up again by the pump. My wife replied that the septic field is down hill from the well and if we don't have the habit of conserving water we could be sorry later. She admits that she could be wrong.
Anyway, I missed my speech practice last night after the cut finger incident. I am going to do speech practice today as soon as I finish this and will edit this tonight.

After reading Jonathan Lockwood Huie's posts on forgiveness I crafted the following affirmation for me to repeat each day:
I Forgive Myself with Compassion - I forgive everyone, especially myself, for all actions, and all inactions throughout my entire life that led me to still have speech dysarthria at my current age. I accept that no one else has ever been to blame for either my current joy or my current suffering. The entire cause of all my joys and all my sufferings is my own emotional response to the events of my life, and I am now committed to consistently distinguishing between my feelings about events and the physical occurrence of those events. I declare that everyone who has ever played any role in any of the events of my life is entirely without fault for my current speech dysarthria.
Between now and March 21, I will spend over 30 hours to become more spiritually sound, over 9 hours working on my tongue, lip and jaw movement exercises in at least 112 segments lasting no more than 7 minutes each and at least 2 hours apart; over 30 hours practicing articulation of sentences with problem words; at least 20 hours helping my wife with housework; and over 60 hours spending quality time with my wife during the day.

Sunday; snowed in and sick today, but a good time to reflect on my life and consider the spiritual implications. The three most important things for me to do today are 1) honor God, 2) honor my wife, and 3) practice my speech (I have poor diction) that I am working on.
1) Lately, I have been inspired to consider Jonathan Lockwood Huie's "Eight Points of An Inspired Life" www.jlhuie.com/2009/08/eight-points-of-sim
ply-inspired-life.html
. The eight points and affirmations thereof are a. HONOR - I honor my true self; b. FORGIVENESS - I forgive myself and all others with compassion; c. GRATITUDE - I receive all of life with thanksgiving; d. CHOICE - I choose with an open mind and open heart; e. VISION - I dream with powerful intention; f. ACTION - I act with bold courage; g. CELEBRATION - I dance with a light heart; and h. UNITY - I am one with God and all creation. At the above link the above points are elaborated upon.
2) I need to give more of my time to honoring my wife. I am addicted to the computer and to my hobby and need to give more time to honoring my wife. I honor my true self by honoring my wife, but when I end up spending hour upon hour at the computer or on my hobby which does not interest my wife, I am seriously lacking in the ACTION needed to give priority to my wife. I got to spend less time immersed in my own passions and not neglect my wife.
3) Here again, I have been lacking in taking action. I should be spending at least 90 minutes a day practicing my tongue, lip and jaw movement exercises and working on correcting my dysarthria.
That is all the time I will spend now on this topic. I will spend the rest of my day with pride.

OlderOwl took the quiz to see why traditional meditation does/is not work(ing) and invested 47 dollars in a meditation 20 minute/day program that can be refunded if not satisfied within 6 months. www.energymeditationsecrets.com/report2.ht

Edit I think I need to explain since some people try to rely on meditation to "attrack" abundance into their lives without giving to society. I believed that one can not truly have an abundant life unless they have a mindset of abundance and are willing to share with others that which they have. God, or the world, whichever way you look at it, rewards those who have a mindset of charity to others and punishes those who don't. One may live to be very rich, but true happiness comes only to those that are charitable; and, without true happiness, richness is meaningless.
When I got up this morning, I found the following Quotes in my mailbox, courtesy of Jonathan Lockwood Huie:
"A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg
even though he knows that you are slightly cracked." - Bernard Meltzer;
"One measure of friendship consists not in the number of things friends can discuss, but in the number of things they need no longer mention." - Clifton Fadiman;
"Friends are helpful not only because they will listen to us,
but because they will laugh at us; Through them we learn a little objectivity,
a little modesty, a little courtesy. - Will Durant;
We may have our private opinions, but why should they be a bar to the meeting of hearts?
- Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi;
"Appreciate your friends. Grant them the freedom to be lovable, but fully imperfect.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie.

Have a wonderful day and meditate on life daily for at least 20 minutes.

Pick any goal that will increase your pride and joy if obtained in 4 weeks and post the goal and goal date on this challenge forum topic. At the same time during this period meditate to reduce stress and consider any motivational/spiritual teachings or articles which are helpful to reduce stress and increase your self-esteem, self-confidence, joy and pride. When the goal date arrives repeat the process.

A wonderful site for motivational articles and quotes to guide your life is Jonathan Lockwood Huie's page www.sail7.com . I happily recommend you go there. The articles are numerous and listed under the categories of --Happiness;Positive Attitude; Living with Joy,Purpose, and Conscious Choice; Self Esteem - Self Confidence; Motivation - Motivational Articles; Relationship Articles - Love, Marriage, Dating, Divorce; Stress Reduction; Anger Control - Anxiety - Worry; Better Sleep; Career Articles - Work Life Balance; Forgiveness Articles; Gratitude Articles; Law of Attraction; Spirituality - God; Money - Personal Finance; Perspective - Acceptance; Eight points of an Inspired Life - Keys to Happiness; Other Topics--. He is a very inspirational writer and the articles are freely accessible. The site reads like a book. In fact he has written a couple of books and there is one available for around 12 dollars titled "100 Secrets for Living The Life You Love".

Because many people attribute living a life you love to merely being selfish and not giving back to society, I say we should live the life we can be proud of. Also, because Jesus preaches forgiveness, I focus on the remainder of your life 4 weeks at a time, and not your past sins or omissions. I challenge everyone here no matter what their background to live the next 4 weeks of their life in a manner that they can be proud of. This can be to follow the guidance of Huie or any religious or spiritual figure, e.g. Jesus. Starting anytime you choose and for the next 4 weeks, live your life with less stress and more pride and joy.
