I like this challenge. My night time snacking is my biggest problem.

Want to join in with this.

ok.. i made it last night again! but i did have an alcoholic beverage around 10pm with my boyfriend... I don't know if that counts against me, but I am proud that I did not eat with a little bit of booze in me! usually that is when I am my worse and I still pulled through, so either way i overcame the cravings to snack! woohoo! my calories were 1481 and I did not exercise again! i really need to focus on exercising tonight!!

I can't remember the days when I slept until 11:00! I guess I'm showing my age! I'm up at 5:40 on weekdays to get in a walk before my husband leaves for work. On weekends I get to sleep in until 6:50 to do my walk! I never would have thought I could maintain getting up early, but I honestly feel better when I do. It took about a week or so, but then I was in the groove and I wouldn't want to go back.

Welcome JBLAH13!

We are here for you! One thing you will want to consider unless your work schedule forces you to be up really late - try going to bed earlier so you can get up earlier. Lots of research indicates that natural daylight is important for regulating appetite as well as healthy sleep cycles. If you get up at 11:00 you have missed a lot of the time that the sun is shining and it will be very hard to get enough light each day.

Let us know how it goes!

Best,
TeacherH

This is hard for me. I don't usually get up until 11:00 am so i usually have lunch around 1:00 as my first. My hunger comes in spurts, so I usally don't even want to snack until after dinner and that's after 8:00. I am doing well, but it's hard.

I am glad that my cleanse is now over and I can go back to my regularly scheduled program.

I am also glad to have found some great people to go through this challenge with.
It is truly mind over matter. Just look at what you can do when you set your mind to it! WTG everyone!

Weekend evenings are killers for me and just weekends in general are difficult so I am staying positive!

Have a great weekend ladies! emoticon

How awesome. I didn't eat last night, I didn't go over with extra sugary calories, and guess what. finally after a long plateau at 152.8, I finally saw 150.4 today. I am thankful for this challenge, and it gave me hope to continue. Come on night number two. emoticon

Way to go KAMITUDE, NIAGARASUE, and SKAUT21! You are on a roll!

I am chalking up another day in my streak too. The same pattern - make supper, feed kids, shuffle them off to bed, clean kitchen, start dishwasher, keep the laundry going, and by then it is well after 8 and I don't want to dirty a dish so it is easy to not eat!

I am a little surprised at how easily this is going. Makes me start to think I should have done this years ago but I guess I wasn't ready then.

My daily range is higher because of breastfeeding - I need an extra 500 calories and I need at least 100 g protein minimum. So here are my totals today...
2,118 cal 244 carb 51 fat 118 protein 39 fiber.

That is a little over my personal target range but the average this week is well within as I was on the low end most days. Also I have logged 200 cardio minutes which is my weekly goal, and I still have Saturday. I am amazed to see the calories from exercise at almost 1200! Who knew it added up to so much?

Hang in there everyone! We can do it! Now I'm folding this basket of clothes and off to bed for this pumpkin...

Best,
Sheila emoticon

Hey there LEARNINTOLUVME,

It sounds like you have a good strategy for keeping your hands busy! A note on your calories, though - you should add 500 cal to your daily range for breastfeeding. I'm breastfeeding too and I'm seeing a very respectible weight loss averaging between 1650 - 2100 calories per day. So unless you are exceptionally short, you need to eat more to keep your body from going into emergency starvation mode and clinging like crazy to each pound. It sounds backwards, I know, but eating too little actually will shut down your weight loss.

Also my nutritionist says breastfeeding moms need 100 g of protein per day. I'm having a hard time hitting that without getting an extra boost from protein powder that I mix into my morning smoothie. I get an extra 30 g that way for very few calories.

Let us know how the scrapbooking goes! I'm a bit envious you are organized enough to do that with 2 little kids. I have 2 little kids and it is all I can manage to keep the place clean and the laundry folded!

Best,
Sheila

I met my goal last night again. Made supper, ate supper, cleaned up, started the dishwasher, started the laundry, recorded my meal in the nutrition tracker, and went to bed!

Let's all keep going!

Wow, so many new people! Hello everyone! This challenge is growing by leaps and bounds!!

Well, I almost didn't make it last night! Like Tailtiu, I went to see Harry Potter last night, and since I was under in calories anyway, I was allowing myself a small bag of popcorn, even though the movie didn't start till 8:30. But, since we went to the theatre my boyfriend works at (free tickets and snacks that way, lol), he ended up having to help some of his coworkers out by starting about 3 of the movies that were running late already. I don't how many of you have seen those projectors in action but they are HUGE and COMPLICATED! So, we ended up missing the first 10 minutes of the movie and I was grumpy anyway, so we just went home - no movie, no popcorn. I even managed not to eat when I got home, even though my boyfriend kept tempting me with delicious "mood-raisers".

So, a bit under calories, but I didn't eat after 8!

Cals: 1,178 / 1220-1550
Last Snack: Dinner @ 7:30

Hope everyone else had a good night!

I'll join! I really need to keep myself accountable. It is very hard for me not to snack after dinner. I lay down in bed almost every night with a book and a granola bar (or some other snack, sometimes more than one!!!). I really need to stop this cycle.

This sounds like a great challenge-- it's always the late night eating that does me in (ESPECIALLY when there's alcohol involved)! I added this as a short-term goal.

Welcome LEARNINTOLUVME,

I hear you about getting the kids to bed and looking for a sweet. I have had some luck with making sure I get plenty of water while I'm making their supper, and making sure I get enough protein for supper myself. It is easy to nibble or just cram something fast for supper because I'm starving, especially because the baby and the 3 year old seem to need me constantly in the evening.

Good for you for joining the challenge! Let us know what strategies work best for you so we can try them too.

Best,
Sheila

Heres is to another successful night ladies!

well, i stayed within calorie range, but ate after 8, because i skipped dinner to go to harry potter and the order of the phoenix. no excuses, though i could have planned my night better. but the movie was so good. and also, at the movie, i resisted pressure to eat chocolate covered peanuts and sour patch kids offered to me by my friend. a huge achievement because she will usually manipulate people to eat if she is eating, so she doesn't feel like a pig. i got home and i had fruit and a 100 calorie pack of oreo thingies, and a little bit of peanut butter. not terrific, but im within calorie range. not as bad as it could have been. i was still thinking about the choco-peanut combo, and was jonesing for it. today i'll stay focused and plan my day out, gonna be hard as i haven't gotten enough sleep (because the movie was so late), about 4 hours.

Welcome TAILTIU!

It's great to have another member participating in the challenge! Are you going to bed on time? That is really key for me. I am way more likely to nibble when I'm overtired, or worse, trying to keep myself awake because I don't think I should be in bed yet.

I have found cleaning to be a great strategy for preventing the post-supper munchies. I put away dinner, load the dishwasher, and start it. Then I tidy up until bed. It keeps me moving and also gives me an excuse not to munch - I don't want to leave one dirty dish in the sink to be there in the morning looking at me.

I used to wait until the dishwasher was "full" before running it but this way works way better for me.

Best,
Sheila

My sister went from a size 22 to a size 12 just by not eating after 8pm. During the day she would eat whatever she wanted. She only started getting in exercise after she got to a size 12.

Welcome to the challenge Kamitude! Wow, you got a lot of exercise yesterday! I wish I were that active! And increasing your calories sounds like a good idea - 1000 tends to be low for someone as active as you are.

Good luck tonight!

Hello everyone! This is my first time on the message boards and I am ready and willing to become focused in my attempt to have a healthier lifestyle. My biggest challenge is not snacking and eating tons at night, so I would like to join this challenge! I had a v8 juice at 8:30pm, but that is quite an accomplishment for me!
Also
Calorie Intake- 1000 calories (I am trying to increase this today)
Exercise- 45 minutes bike riding, 20 minutes basketball, 30 minutes strength training!
I am soo excited!

I had a snack at 7:30 trying to get as much calories in as I can as I've been low on my calories each day. Then at 8:30 while I was on the computer I grabbed another snack thinking about my calories and not about the challenge. ugh!

The mind is a terrible thing to lose :(

Hello to everyone new on the challenge! This definitely seems like the kind of place where more (people) is better!

Congrats to everyone who made it last night - especially Sheila! That sounded like one tough night!

And MomTo2Princes, JelaineB, it sounds like you did great even though the exact deadline slipped a little. After all, isn't the main point just being conscious of when and where you're eating at night? And it definitely sounds like you have that down!

Alright, day 2 for me - here we go!
