“Whatever you are doing, keep it up!” Those were the words of my rheumatologist 20+ years ago after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called ‘ankylosing spondylitis.’ X-rays revealed my spine to be 100% fused, with pain and stiffness.

I defied the doomsday diagnoses given by an orthopedist 35 years ago, “Be prepared to be disabled and in a wheelchair by the time you are in your forties!”

To that I replied, ‘NO I won't! So, in keeping with my rheumatologist’, I did what he recommended. I stayed mobile and kept moving! I am now 74 and worked full time, in very physically demanding job—and retired in my 70th year.

The awful prophecy did not come to pass, as the Dr. Grim said. I never made plans for anything but happiness and a fulfilled life—and that is what has come to pass!

I love retirement, except I found a new career which is writing! I have added Author to my nursing career. More below.

Thursday: Well, just ugh. John had his CT scan of the liver and got the results. Apparently another challenge he has is a cyst in the liver. The Dr. said that could be part of the reason for the liver inflammation. So, now he has to see another specialist to see what can be done. **SIGH** Just ready to wave the white flag.

Clara’s court date now is 29 January. She is so conflicted about it, but is going forward, at least that part is good.

She hasn’t been feeling good either. She has stress-related eczema (she’d get that periodically as a kid). She also has possible female problems. Enough is enough! Her Dr. recommended a therapist to her, and she’s going to make an appointment. I am glad about that, as she really does need that.

So, the beat goes on. I just pray life straightens out for these 2 kids. I am getting to the overwhelmed stage.
