2013 entered with a roar and hasn't slowed down since. I have experienced the past few months as a whirlwind with just about all the major changes someone could possibly experience: marriage, losing my job and finding one 200% better, buying a new house, and a baby on the way in October!

Pregnancy completely altered my weight loss goals, but not the positive lifestyle changes I have tried to practice over the last year. Keeping my motivation high and staying active remain the two biggest obstacles I want to overcome. By no means has this been an even, steady, or even straight journey. Taking every day at a time and incorporating at least one healthy choice in my activities makes all the difference in the world!

Things I can do now for an instant lift:
1. Eat a fruit or vegetable.
2. Have a glass of water.
3. Get up and do a few laps around the office building or the block.
4. Sit up straight.
5. Take deep breaths from the abdomen.
6. Reflect on what I'm grateful for.
7. Plan to go to a water aerobics class.
8. Plan dinner.
9. Reduce portion size.
10. Smile!

While I'm waiting for my little one to appear, I measure other milestones and believe the change of attitude and thinking during this journey proves every bit as essential as another pound down, another few centimeters shaved off my waistline. There will be plenty of time for that after!

My husband and my family are unceasingly supportive. In turn, I try to set a good example by having an active, positive lifestyle that encourages adopting a bit more activity.

My own worst enemy, always, has been me. It's the critical voice that tells me I didn't go to the gym today. It's the whisper that I could just put something off til tomorrow instead of doing it today. Negatives are easy to see, positives take more work. I mean to put those demons to bed and let myself shine fearlessly, courageously, and telling myself I have nothing to lose except my old habits and fears.

* Do 3 strength training routines per week.
* Drink 8 cups of water.
* Go to three classes at the YMCA weekly.
* Eat +2 servings of raw fruits and veggies a day.
* Pack my lunch every day.
* Stop evening snacking.
