So here I am again, trying to lose weight. I haven't been steadily working at it like I should be but I am making much better choices than I had been. I've actually met and bypassed my goal of 150 but then my insulin dosage was upped and I've gained some back. I cannot believe I actually made my goal and then messed up. It's frustrating. I hope I don't sabotage myself. I'm really bad about that. I get close and then lose it. I'm going to make a real effort to start putting my food back in again. I've never been a little girl. I can remember going on the cabbage soup diet when I was 13 (I still can't imagine making my daughter eat only soup for 3 weeks!). I was a size 16 when I got married and then had 3 babies within 4 years and kept gaining from there. I started about 12 years ago at an all time high of 250. When I started sparkpeople I was down to 223 and had been stuck there for about a year. With sparkpeople, I'd gotten over that plateau and started losing it again when I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 . Then for some crazy reason, stopped losing and basically stopped caring. I got content and lazy and gained some back. Not sure what I did that got the weight going in the right direction again but I'm sure not going to I'm 49, married to a wonderful man for 26 years and a mother of 3 incredible children that I am crazy about. I am a 1st teacher and am very passionate about animals and the environment. My friends say I have my own personal zoo here at home. I just say they're lucky I don't live out in the country where I could really have all the animals I

My Goals:
-My goal is to get down to about 175. I'll then see how I look & feel and set another weight goal then.
-Lose enough weight that my blood pressure and diabetes are under control without having to take medication.
-Exercise at least 3X a week.

My goals-
1st 5%: -11 lbs = 212 MET!
2nd 5%: - 10.6lbs= 201.4 MET!!
3rd 5%- 10.7= 190.7 MET!
4th 5% - 9.5 = 181.2
5th 5% - 9.06 = 172.14
(aiming for 175)

My Program:
Since I have been diagnosed with diabetes, I am trying to limit my carbs.
-Eating a lot of vegetables & trying to limit my meat intake. Which isn't hard since I am a vegetable fanatic!:)
-Exercise at least 3X a week for no less than 30 minutes.

Personal Information:
I live in the NE metro area of Atlanta, GA.

Other Information:
I LOVE to read. It's probably my favorite thing in the world. I'm most at home in the outdoors. I love to camp and white water raft. I love to play tennis. It's my main exercise. I've become totally addicted to it!

    I read one of your blogs and just wanted to say congrats on saying no to the reeses cups. Chocolate is my wickness as well...really anything sweet I eat when I am happy, sad, mad, or bored. So this is going to be very hard...I just started today! I tried to do it over the holidays but just erased everything and started over. Just wanted to say that I do alot of the smart ones and lean cusine meals. You can have desserts and they are very tastey. I buy the meals that are similar to what my boyfriend is eating that way I won't get usually helps! He works with pizza and is always bringing it home so I bought the smart ones pepperoni pizza...that way when I see him eat his...I eat mine! And the desserts are really good for when you have a sweet craving and they are low in calories! So instead of eating the reeses cup you can go to the freezer and pull out a chocolate chip cookie dough sundae so you won't eat what you know you really don't want to...just to give a few ideas! well good luck and keep in touch! *jessica*

    LOL, thanks for the comment on Wasa bread/crackers. They are repulsive but I am gonna maybe keep them around for when I make tuna later on this week. I may have to scrape the tuna back onto real bread!

    I read your blog from today, and I think your point of view makes sense. If there's something you really want, have some but not all. And see how that works. I try to eat half a small fry and a cheeseburger if I go to McDonald's but can't always. If I end up eating something I don't want instead, I go and eat the icky thing and then eventually eat the "good" thing. So it's hard sometimes, but as long as you're cutting down, you're making progress.

    Oh man those cokes. I love Pepsi and diet Pepsi is nastier than diet Coke. For me I can lay off the Pepsi and drink more water, but the fast food is what gets me sometimes.
