hey everyone!

i'm a college student looking for support and encouragement in making better nutrition choices. i was healthy and never even weighed myself in high school. before going to college, i became obsessed with losing weight- which i did successfully. even though i didn't need to. since then, my weight has gone up and down, up and down. creeping up higher every time. i've read everything there is about nutrition and exercise, but i lack the motivation and long-term commitment to apply the information to my life.

ran xc and track in high school.. but now i exercise pretty regularly, usually with the elliptical or treadmill. i really want to get into weights.

chocolate and sweets, in general, are my weakness. i could literally live off them if my body allowed. i don't eat much red meat, but i also enjoy the occassional hamburger. i love seafood and SUSHI!!

other goals:
i'm working on building up my self-control because that's what's holding me back in my weight loss goals. i struggle with perfectionism and have a hard time with the "all or nothing" mentality, which hits my self-esteem hard. i'm working on eating to live, not living to eat.

my family and friends don't hold me accountable, even when i announce that i need their help. which gets very frustrating at times, but i've found that i can be very open about my goals here on SP and get support that i need. feel free to add me as a friend or ask me any questions. thanks for everyone's support and kind words!

    Yeah, I use designer whey: ( They probably list all the major retailers but GNC is one. My favorite flavors are vanilla and most definitely chocolate. Strawberry is only good if you make a smoothie with real frozen strawberries-- otherwise it just tastes kind of fake.
    I like to make lattes and smoothies with it, but it's about $25 for 2lbs of powder, which usually lasts me about a month (but I have 2 drinks in a day). I also get a lot of protein from boca burgers and chicken. If I only did boca and chicken, though, my protein would probably be a lot lower-- around 40 or 50-ish.
    But yeah, if you do get the designer whey, definitely get chocolate (I see you love chocolate). :)
    Where did you go on a cruise? That must've been so fun.

    Thanks! And I know it's frustrating, but you'll get there. WHat do you do for cardio? The elliptical was my best friend at school. Also nice, NIU posted their nutritional information online for all their dining hall stuff so that helped a lot (not sure if your school does or if you'll even be living in the dorms this year).
    That's cool that you're in a sorority. I'm hoping to rush for Sigma Kappa next semester. I like their philanthropy, which is gerentology; I think that would fit nicely with my major. :)
