I'm a retired teacher, wife, mom, grandmother of a little girl and a little boy... And I am updating this... since (early January 2012) I've lost 90or so. I've maintained with 2-3 pound fluctuations for about 6 months. I love my Fitbit.. It keeps me accountable and MINDFUL that I must get up and move. Every day. No matter what. I used to resent the time spent taking walks.. Now I consciously think "Wow, I'm lucky, I'm ABLE to walk!" My mom consigned herself to bed for the last 8 or 10 years of her life even though she could have been active... I will not allow myself that pattern of self-destructive behavior. And in my mind I figure that every day I get at least 30 minutes or more of walking in adds a bit of healthy, active time to my life.
My resting heart rate has gone from the high 80's to the high 50's. Cholesterol was fine, the good fats were good... and blood sugar was absolutely normal, where it had been borderline a year before. My doctor actually asked me for advice on how to improve health so dramatically! And wrote down sparkpeople's web address. So I feel much fitter, and now it's time to lose the other 45 pounds.

I kept off most of the pounds, though a few sneaked back. Now I am seriously working on it, lost 20 pounds over the last year according to the doctor's scale. I feel better, look better, so now I want to lose the rest of the pounds that need to go. My knees are much happier now, but I think they could be happier yet.

I retired from the classroom at the end of the 2014 school year, took a deep breath, started adjusting to retirement. In a weak moment, ran for the local school board and was elected. Now, two years later I am president of said board. Love it, but it does take time. Lots of time.

My husband and I have traveled a lot... mostly cruises since he finds them immensely relaxing. The grandchildren are now 4 and 6 and still the most amazing miracle to us.

I'm a retired high school teacher: history, geography, philosophy. I also taught at our community college

Married 48 years; we spent 20 of those moving as my husband was an Army officer. Lived in 7 different states, plus Turkey and Germany.

Two grown, married sons. First granddaughter was born in June 2012 and is such a joy I cannot express my love for her. Grandson born in fall of 2014. More love, more joy.

Love to travel, to read, to write. History, geography, philosophy are passions.
