You're like my son Hisaki! He loves learning about bugs. His idea of a hot date is to go to the parasite museum in Tokyo. When I'm gardening, sometimes I come across a weird larva or something really alien-looking, and I'll send a photo of it to him in the middle of the day. Oh, you know what else we like? Well, lizards of course, but even more salamanders with their cute shapes and hands. I wish Matthias could see all the creepy crawlies over here and hear all the different kinds of cicadas. He might react like Hisaki, with total delight.

Have a great Wednesday! I'm off to try to sleep! Been watching true crime stories all day. Couldn't stop, even when there's a million other more productive things I need to do. Speaking of needing to do more productive things, have you checked out Word Wipe on WaPo? That is so addictive. My score is only a small fraction of the top players, but I love seeing my username in the top fifty! Those people who get scores in the hundreds of thousands--I just can't fathom how they do that. No need to answer, my dear. Just procrastinating about going to bed. I hope you have a great day.

hahah! I just saw your comment about locusts cicadas and reading the wiki chapter on earthworms on ButtonPopper's page - and your comment that you used to be fun. LOL. Too funny. I can totally relate. Thanks for the chuckle on both your pages. :)

Thanks for that primer on cicadas! I found out how ignorant I am. I thought those shells I picked up as a kid were from cicadas, but you have stirred my memory--I do remember that people called them locusts. I guess I've never been close to nature because I can't remember if we got cicada noise at our cabin in the pine woods on our farm in east central/southern Georgia. I'll have to ask my brother, because he went there just the other day. Are your cicadas as deafening as the ones in Japan? I have trouble even hearing conversations when the cicadas are out. Cicadas are generally well loved here and a sure sign of the season. Every year, I notice when they start singing, and I announce it to my family, and they tell me when they hear it for the first time. There are several species here, and they all have a distinctive song.

Anyway, sounds like you're ready for the D.C. version to go away! Yeah--that's the reporter! Manu Raju. So have you yourself been landed on yet?

I'm on the way to the p.o. to mail a letter I finally finished to you. I hope there are no delays over there any more. It's definitely been a BEATLETOT time these past couple of weeks. Thought about you a lot recently.

P.S. Just went back and read your comment and gather that you've been dive-bombed unintentionally. They're clumsy and heavy, aren't they?
