#BeforeAndAfter long time ago. My highest weight was 275 and 250 when I joined Sparkpeople. Regretfully, I took many breaks from this great program, but keep coming back. This time I hope to stay for good.

Hi, my real name is Sabine. My mom always called me "Bienke" and I missed that. I joined Sparkpeople shortly before the 2nd anniversary of her death and I was sad. Losing weight has been a life long struggle for me. Most of my family was and still is big. As a child I was not allowed to leave the table unless my plate was clean. Little did my parents know that this would lead to a struggle with weight for the rest of my life. My parents showed their love with food because they did not know any better. I had my knees replaced in 2008 and 2009 but now arthritis and RA have moved to my feet which makes walking hard. I can do only short stretches and have to concentrate on other forms of exercise. I had 3 foot operations the end of August 2016 until June 2017 and couldn't put weight on them for most of the time. It is deep water aerobics for me at this point of my life. I'm still having difficulties walking or exercises that require stretching/bending my feet/toes.

My Goals:
Ever since I joined SP I have lost over 50 pounds, not counting the ups and downs.

I will not give up and reach my goal of 150 lbs eventually.


My Program:
I take pictures of the food I eat on my phone when I can't track it right away.

I don't have a set exercise program because arthritis will not always let me do what I want to do. I like going on walks, water aerobics and yoga.



Personal Information:
I retired in March 2017 and have to deal with this new change in my life.

    Hallo Bienke,
    Danke fuer Deine Tips. Im moment habe ich dass Gefuehl nichts hilft. Ich habe schon vor Jahren gemerkt dass snacks wichtig sind.
    Doch im Buero ist es manchmal schwierig. Ich nehme meist Obst oder Jogurt von zu Hause mit, aber dann bringen die jemanden der Snacks fuer uns hat. Sie bringt jetzt auch Obstsalat, aber sonst hauptsaechlich Carbs. Da dies von der Firma bezahlt wird kann ich nicht immer verweigern.
    Daher esse ich dann zu Mittag keine extra Carbs.

    Yes cold and rainy weather makes my joints hurt and sometimes I seem to hurt all over. And no one who does not have RA or any other autoimmune disease understands.
    On such mornings I have to do my stretches and yoga extra careful, but it is twice as important to help me get flexible enough and manage the pain.

    Christmas was great with my daughter-in-law, her friends and my son. We had a Thai BBQ and I ate too much. New Years eve I had one glass of wine at midnight. I spent a lot of time on the telephone talking to relatives and friends. Today was catch up time with all my laundry.
