My name is Susan and I am married to Marc, (27 years on January 7, 2011) and our children all have fur, feathers, or fins. We have three dogs, Teddy Bear, Maggie Jane, and Toby, two cockatiels Jessie and Henry, and two giant Goldfish, and an algae eater.

I will be 48 years old September 6th, 2010 but I am working out and living healthier more than ever before and loving it. I had to learn a hard lesson though. I had some serious health issues (possibly allergy/ asthma related- never really knew except that my Blood Oxygen Level in the ambulance was 30 and I felt like was floating away.) and discovered multiple food allergies and other allergies were having a big effect on me i.e. inflammation.
I was hospitalized and in ICU in 2008 after that I was in Physical Therapy and from there went on to work out more and eat healthy and lost 77 pounds. I gained 37 pounds back last winter (2009) due to overworking/overstressing myself, getting sick and then depressed etc. So I have been back on track since May 2010.

My family history is full of heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes. I am breaking the chain. I have to.... I refuse to do what we've always done. My brother said, "i can't believe you're the healthiest one of us now."

I just got back on Sparkpeople to monitor calories, nutrition, exercise and connect.

I am striving to eat the healthiest way I can for a better life, health, and happiness. Dealing with mutiple food allergies and a diagnosis of Asthma, Allergies, and Fibromyalgia. I am riding my bike to keep fit and lean and because I LOVE it! I lift weights, and do Pilates, stretches, aerobics, hiking, swiss ball, whatever for variety.

I am working in the ministry to serve God and others. I am a licensed and ordained Full Gospel minister with a non-profit outreach ministry mainly to the elderly and shut-in. I minister at nursing homes, a group home for mentally handicapped men and also visit jail and prison when asked. I am working at keeping a BALANCE of physical, emotional, menta,l and spiritual. Now I make time to love/serve God and others and time to love/help myself! I have to watch myself though! ;)

My Goals:
My goals are for a balanced life. Eating healthy, exercising, resting enough, serving God in ministry, helping others, taking care of myself.

AND I want to ride a half century by November 2010!!!!!

My Program:
I eat an allergy free, non processed diet of mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, alternative grains, and some fish. I try all kinds of ethnic foods, vegan and vegetarian recipes. I eat like an adventurer rather than let food allergies be a burden.

I exercise 5-6 days per week. I lift weights, ride my bike, (I LOVE that!) include a variety of cardio and weights, heavy, light, high/ low reps) i try different things, hiking, aerobics, core, pilates, so I don't get bored or plateau. I make sure to listen to my body and rest.

Personal Information:
I live in rural Southern Indiana with Kentucky roots and heritage. I am a minister who does outreach and works handing out dogfood samples 4 to 8 hours per week to earn money to buy health food and to put gas in my car! LOL

I was born Sept. 6th, 1962. My husband is from England, a former Royal Household Calvary seargent and we've been married since Jan. 7th, 1984.

We have no children but several pets. Teddy bear and Maggie Jane are our furkids. :)

Other Information:
Psalm 37:5
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Hope that you are doing well today. If you haven't checked the Christian Bookworms group, come and give us a try. It is a christian website that people who want to get closer to Christ go to. The goal I am on is the 5 verses in the month. I can learn only one at a time though, I have learning problems. But, I don't think that the good Lord minds. Have a good day! Holly emoticon emoticon
