I would rather lose more but I will take 52, I'm getting healthy first.

Thank you for visiting my SparkPage! I Love being supportive and encouraging on SP.

I think the best Medicine is Resting, Dancing, and Fasting. Intermittent fasting simply allows the body to use its stored energy, by burning off excess body fat. Resting, and Dancing are great for the body and soul

**My Inspiration is Ernestine Shepherd, and she says,
"Age is Nothing But A Number and You CAN GET FIT"

My PLAN: is to stick with my Keto and IF (Intermittent Fasting) and Dance to my Heart's content. I want to be as healthy looking as Ernestine Shepherd when I'm in my eighties and nineties!

I realize there is NO QUITTING IN HEALTHY LIVING.

**The SIMPLE PLEASURES of LIFE **
*********************************
*A warm sunny day!
*A field of wheat-grass blowing in a soft breeze!
*The smell of rain!
*Big puffy white clouds!
*A freshly mowed lawn!
*Watching my horses move!
*The touch of my husband's hand on the small of my back!
*****************************
Important Things to Remember:
1. Keep your plan simple. Do not complicate it with a bunch of rules that make it difficult.
2. Don't expect perfection. No guilt.
3. Expect plateaus.
4. Don't get in a rush.
5. Listen to your body.
6. Never give up on yourself.
7. Keep Sparking...
*****************************
When I was a kid I was called "Toothpick" and it hurt my feelings.
I think I was skinny from way too much stress then.
Before my 1st child was born I weighed 110 lbs at 5 ft. 5 1/2 inches. After my 3rd child was born I settled at about 125 lbs.
I had a total hysterectomy when I was 28 but, not much change in weight. I didn't get up to 140 until I was about age 39.
Then when I was 46 I had stage 4 breast cancer and after chemo and radiation I got up into the 190s.
I am a medium frame and at 51, I lost 50 lbs on Atkins in about 6 months. I gained it all back when I put all my focus on my daughter while I was caring for her after her stroke in 1997. She is doing fine now. But, it took me years of trying to get back on track until
I started watching Dr. Eric Berg's videos explaining that the only thing the Atkins diet was missing was the veggies to protect the liver among other things. Also how good Interment Fasting is for the body.

Now, in my golden years, I just want to stay healthy. I have been learning a lot from Dr. Berg and doing Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting lifestyle since Sat.,10/26/19. I stopped using All SUGAR including foods that turn to sugar in my body, like all bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, and anything with white or wheat flour in it, etc. https://www.drberg.com/
~
Saturday ~10/26/19 ~ I made a commitment to myself: No More Sugar!
(1) So far, my morning readings of Blood Sugar have dropped from 250s to 100s.
(2) My mood is so much better.
(3) I'm getting out of chairs easier and walking faster.
(4) My left knee has stopped hurting.
(5) I don't need to urinate near as often.
(6) My belly Is NOT bloated anymore.
(7) I'm sleeping so much better too.
(8) I have lots more energy.
(9) I'm not hungry all the time anymore.
(10) I have stopped losing weight for now. (But, I'm not worried, that will happen as a side effect as I get healthy).

Once I made up my mind to do Keto I went to my kitchen and threw away my bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, and anything that was high in carbs (I could do this because it's just my husband and me). Don't worry I kept the things he really likes and he's fine with it. Then I made my list of allowed meats, veggies, and condiments, and off to the grocery store I went.

RE:Lab results
General Mailbox
05/29/2020
Hello Ms. Bobbie Walker,

I have published your lab results on your portal.

I want to congratulate you on the enormous success demonstrated by these labs. You are no longer showing any evidence of diabetes, elevated liver enzymes, or elevated triglycerides.

Your electrolytes, kidney function, and blood count also looked great. Your thyroid is in control.

Your cholesterol is still elevated however the majority of this is usually due to genetics. Please keep up your success and do not revert back to the diet that caused all the problems we identified earlier.

Please review the labs and let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Dr. Tarpley

Today is the day I found out about PICKLEBALL. I had to Google and look it up on YouTube to find out what the heck it was. I have been excited about this Pickleball all day.

So I'm going to buy some Pickleball paddles and the balls and see if we can use the Tennis Court at the VA in town. I'm thinking that I could just use some duck tape to mark off the Pickleball court. Of course, I have to try to explain this to my sister-in-law and get a few others to have someone to play with.

Well, wish me luck. Happy Holidays!

A book she wrote is called "It Happened at Dawn." by, Shanna Lee James I'm looking forward to reading it.

A Spark Message I sent to Karen KD Girl who ask me questions that I had a hard time answering.
Hi Karen KD,

Your welcome Karen, I'm not sure what you mean by "real-time situation", but I do use an app tracker. It really helps. It lets me know when my 20 hours of fasting are up and if I have been having some hunger pains I will eat shortly after I'm notified if no hunger pains I wait until I'm really hungry.

I have never been one to eat breakfast when I first get up anyway. So I lesson to my body. There is nothing set in stone with me. But, generally, I would say that I shoot for my 4-hour window being in the middle of the day from 1 pm to 5 pm.

I did eat a lot more when I first started. The main thing is to eat all you want to until you get full. Now I don't eat as much now because I get full on less food. One thing I had to do is get used to having veggies with my eggs and bacon which I have at least every other day.
Typically I have:
2 eggs, fried or scrambled (with mushrooms, onions, and cheese) in coconut oil
2 slices of bacon, broiled on parchment paper
1/2 an avocado
and a veggie, sometimes Brussel sprouts, broccoli, a kale salad, or maybe a green smoothie.
I have about 2 leaders of water a day and always take a 20 oz covered cup to bed with me.
Most every morning I drink a mug of Turmeric Tea and I have one or two cups of my fave coffee with heavy whipping cream and a sweetener in it with my meal.
Now I do have other things that are low in carbs and protein but higher in fat. I like walnuts, radishes, olives, cheese, Fat Bombs, etc.

I guess the best thing I could suggest is to post what you want to eat in the SP tracker and see what the carbs, protein, and fats are BEFORE you eat them. If you know you are eating the right foods you don't have to worry about calories.

Here are a few videos that I watched to help me when I started. They are by Dr. Eric Berg, D.O.
I hope you enjoy his videos. They are for the most part less than 10 minutes long.

To Karen KDGIRL
I'm not at my goal yet but, my goal may not be my body's goal. My goal is 135 lbs. I sill have about 33 lbs. to go. I don't plan on changing anything. When I started this it was for my health, to get my blood sugar down and help my fatty liver. Also, my triglycerides have been high for years. I have reached that goal and I couldn't be happier about that.

When I was 28 I had to have a total hysterectomy and at age 46 I went through chemo and radiation due to stage 4 breast cancer. So my metabolism has been slow most of my life. My normal weight was 125 lbs. for years after my 3 kids were born until cancer. Then in 2005, I was told that I was diabetic and at that time I was very close to 200 lbs.

Now I feel better than I have in years so this lifestyle is a way of life for me until I die. Now, I'm not saying I will all ways do the 20/4 IF, I may drop back to 18/6 some days and I may have a baked potato or a piece of birthday cake now and then but I must always do Keto and IF so I can live a longer and healthier life. The kicker is I really enjoy this lifestyle. Now I just have to get the motivation to start exercising again.

When I was in my twenties I worked in Health Studios in Houston, Chicago, and Seattle. I was amazed at the women over 55 who exercised and looked great. I don't know what I thought the age limit was for exercise then but now I know we are never too old to exercise. For our bone health if nothing else. A masseuse once told me I don't care what pill you put into your mouth even an aspirin, it will have some side effect in your body and I have never forgotten that. So I hate taking any medication even BP meds. So exercising and the way we eat keeps us healthy. To me, my health is the most valuable thing I have. I think the less we weigh the fewer pills we have to take. I'm not stupid though, I know even being thin we can get ill or have health problems.

It has taken me years to figure out what is right for me, may not be right for others. So, lessen to your body no matter what age you are.

Laugh, Love, and Be Healthy!

My Welcome Message to new members.
I'm' glad you joined us on team " Keto - Intermittent Fasting & Dr. Berg's Videos". I hope this team is what you have been looking for and you learn everything you need to know about Keto & IF.

There are plenty from Dr. Bergs's videos and I have learned so much just building the team. However, I have gotten burned out on kale salads, smoothies, and cooked kale. I never could eat 7 to 10 cups of salad. My stomach is just not big enough and I don't want to stretch it out.
So I eat as much as I can of other salad greens (a little kale too) with my protein and fats in them (usually 3 to 4 cups) once a day. I'm doing OMAD (One Meal A Day) around 7 PM for 1 hour and fasting the other 23 hours. Sometimes I just have cooked veggies and a protein with fats. I had to build up to this so I started doing 16/8 then 18/6 then 20/4 each one was for as long as I needed and finally 23/1 and I never was hungry in between my meals but I drink lots of water and have herbal tea or coffee in the morning. I also put a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in my water with a small amount of electrolytes (I buy Dr. Berg's Electrolyte Powder). I do buy some of his other vitamins too when I can afford them.
I use to just have the traditional keto meal eggs, bacon, and a lot of veggies (I still do sometimes) and I lost weight doing that too. The way I eat now is just simpler for me. But, we all have to make up our own minds to do what we want to do to get healthy and lose weight. My way is just that MY WAY. The main thing is You have to just make up your own mind to be able to stick with (Your Way) until you reach your goal and then maintain it.
I hope something I have said helps you and didn't offend you. I all so hope you will do lots of posting on the team to let me know how you are doing and what you think.

I am very worried about SPARKLING_NICI. I have recently (10/20/20) sent her another Sparkmail and have not gotten a response. The last time she responded to me was 9/17/2020 in a Sparkmail. We had written back and forth several times on 6/11/2020.
I thought she had posted in other threads on the team the last post by SPARKLING_NICI, I found was on 8/17/20 9:59 A on the TOPIC: Monthly Measurements" and on 6/29/20 10:02 A. on the TOPIC: THE NEW Lose 25 Pounds in 25 Weeks, TEAM Challenge. I looked on a few of her other teams and found one team called "The Plateau-Busting Challenge" that she had posted the same subject "Frustrated and scared" I noticed SPARKLING_NICI is on several of SPARK_COACH_JEN teams.

If you find out anything, please send me a PM in my Sparkmail. I never check my Gmail. I am really concerned about SPARKLING_NICI.

Thank you in advance for anything you can do.

"Frustrated and scared"
I am at the point in almost all of my weight loss endeavours where I get fed up and quit. It seems my body REALLY likes to be in the mid to upper 260's. I have been here, struggling, eating well, and moving more since the beginning of May and have been bouncing from 268 to 261. I'm feeling discouraged and emotionally hangry for things that I don't eat much of any longer. Empty things like baked goods and sugary drinks. I not only don't want to "fall off the wagon", I CANNOT or I'm likely to die. I was 320(145.15kg) and I'm only 5'2.5"(158.75cm) tall. I AM bigger around at my hips than I am tall... I know all the "tips"; don't watch the scale, pay attention to your measurements(I have no one to help me take measurements accurately). I don't feel as though my clothes are fitting differently now than they did at the top of May. I'm trying not to feel sorry for myself and white knuckling it NOT to fall into the bottom of a packet of chips, a carton of cookies or a tub of ice cream.

What I need from the community is empathy, commiseration and some advice. Preachy drill sergeants may see their way out, right now. The world is an extremely hard place right now, let's be good to each other and lighten the load on everyone, if we can. Toss me a life line if you've got one to spare; hopefully I can do the same for someone else.

have the BEST day that YOU can

What I said to PLEASANTGUY57 in a Welcome Goodie to the "Intermittent Fasting Team" no the "Introduce Yourself to Team Forum" 10/4/20
But, I can tell you this, I have lost weight by not doing any exercise and just cutting out ALL sugar from my diet. I literally through away anything I had in the house that was processed foods and any foods that turned to sugar in my body, like bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, flour, etc. It takes a certain kind of mind-set and comment to do that but it can be done without exercise.

My goal was to get my blood sugar down from the 250/300 range to the normal 80/100 range and I did that within 10 days and I am maintaining it. My A1C went down from 8.5 to 5.0 by the time I had labs done a few months later. I am now able to exercise when I choose too.

I hope you will come back to the team and join in some of the threads like our Daily Chat, and THE NEW Lose 25 Pounds in 25 Weeks, TEAM Challenge, and others.

I Love Sparkpeople! This is where I spend a good part of my days. I enjoy talking, supporting, and encouraging others and getting the same from my teammates.

I find it amazing how many folks Sparkpeople have helped over the years that I have been a member.

I have lost quite a bit of weight (about 45 lbs.) since Oct. 2019 and most importantly brought my A1C down to 5.0 from 8.5 and got a glowing report from my doctor last May 2020.

Sorry, I don't have pictures to share. I have never liked my picture taken especially at my heaviest about 207 lbs.

My hope for everyone is health.

11/7/20 I'm looking into ways to stop losing my hair and getting rid of wrinkles. I have found DERMA ROLLING or MICRONEEDLING I can do at home. It seems to be a great way to build collagen within the skin to firm and plump the skin, getting rid of wrinkles. I have found that it works for both skin and hair. There are lots of Blogs, YouTubes, and studies on the subject. I have ordered a couple of Dermarollers and a few other products. I will see if this really works.

I found this in your May 24, 2020 blog. It is very helpful to me.
#1 My walking 10,000+ steps is a priority, every day, even if it means walking circles inside my house. I walk for phone calls - no sitting down! That adds up!
#2 Tracking food, as before, but reducing processed foods and carbs; no bread, no boxed cereal, no snack foods, etc. I am eating very healthy!
#3 Pushing back breakfast (Intermittent Fasting) to 11 a.m., so I have Brunch, not Breakfast, and Lunch. It is not hard to contain 1200 calories in two meals, instead of three. No, I'm not hungry or starving!
#4 Eating nothing after dinner. Snacking has been totally eliminated. This has not been a hardship.
