My name is Brenda. I am 56 yrs. young! My husband Ron and I have been married 37yrs. We were high school sweet hearts and got married two weeks after I graduated. We have two children. Andrew 33 yrs. graduated with his Master Degree in Workforce Education from Southern IL University at Carbondale. Kristin 31 yrs. graduated from Illinois State University and is a Special Education teacher. I've been a Home Daycare Provider for the past 37yrs. I retired in 2016 and now just watch my grandsons. My husband is a farmer. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I have tried every diet and read so my weight loss books. I joined a weight loss group called TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) in 1999. It took me two years to lose 145Ibs. I still attend TOPS meetings weekly. I need the group support and need the weekly weigh in. I eat a low fat diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. I eat lean protein mainly chicken or pork. I exercise twice a day when possible. I love to walk outside and ride my bike. I joined a Fitness Center four years ago. I try to lift weights 2 to 3 days a week. I use the treadmill, elliptical trainer, and ride an exericse bike. I'm trying to train to run in a 5k race. I had maintained my weight until January 2009. I had Abdominal Plastic surgery to have my excess stomach skin removed. I've had many very painful sores and infections on my abdomin due to all my extra skin folds from the weight loss. This surgery was very tramatic. I lived in a lazyboy recliner for three months. I could not lie in a bed for over three weeks. I could not do anytype of exercise for 3 months after my surgery. I just about went crazy with no physical activity. I watched every bite of food that I ate. I gained about 15Ibs. and have only lost about 5Ibs. since I started exercising again. It's been so frustrating that I'm having such a hard time getting the extra pounds off. When I went in for my physical my physcians assistant told me about Sparkpeople. I'm learning my way around the site and love it! I hope this site can help me get my extra pounds off. Wish me luck!!!

Thank you for the comment on the dogs! That was part of our Christmas card and my husband had me put under the picture "We're looking for Santa" to explain why they were looking up in the air like that! Truthfully, he was holding snacks up and was supposed to be behind me, but was off to the side while I took the pictures, so the caption worked out perfectly! LOL

I wish I had just let him do all the decorating, and had just put the frosting on. But it's only the 2nd time he's made a gingerbread house so I was trying to show him how to do it. Next year he gets to put on ALL the candies for the tree, probably be more fun for both of us. The house in the kit was lots smaller than your barn, so it actually made it harder to decorate as you couldn't get to the windows easily to put ball candies on them

Just finished decorating our gingerbread house. Had a hard time keeping my grandson from eating all the decorations and frosting. Now of course, he wants to eat it right away. Love the barn your grandsons made, but we're going to wait until next year before attempting another one!

I suppose Ron is all done by now, hope he's satisfied with results. Beans done week and half ago, talked to a guy yesterday who had 500 acres of beans yet, that's what I farm. Good start on corn, one bin site auger broken, too late to buy another or fix, not going to fill it. Other bin have a good start, Son from N C arrives today to help fill and climb to check on it. Hope all is well with you, my hip surgery is set for December, very much needed! Tell Ron be safe, lost a farmer yesterday in a grain bin about 50 miles away. Not sure of detailes, should not have been unloading, might have had a health condition or got tangled with a stirall.
