Thanks for your comments on my blog.

Like i said....I have gone from 280 to 197 oiver the last 2.5 years.

    That was tough.

This is going to be a challenge, but a piece of cake in the long run.

    Thanks!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. To answer your question, I started to train for running in August, and completed the 5K Your Way running program on October 15. I had to build a 2 week remedial program to develop to the point where I could start Week 1 with the walk 1 minute run 3 minutes protocol; and I had a 9 day interruption in the program to deal with a strained calf.

Don't ask me how to train to run this fast. I didn't set out to learn to run fast, just to learn to run. The speed is what I ended up with. When I got to the first day in the 5K program that you run 35 minutes, my pace was 7:43 per mile. That has gradually got faster as I've been running 3 or 4 days a week. Cooler weather during this period might also be helping my speed, and achieving goal weight probably helped as well.

Now, a normal training pace is in the 7:10 to 7:25 range per mile for a 3 to 3.5 mile run, and maybe 7:20 to 7:30 for a 5 to 6 mile run. Competitive races get me to run faster even though I don't think I'm running that fast while I'm doing it.
