One bite at a time, one step at a time, one day at a time...

I stress eat. I mindlessly eat. Each day I make a decision to do journal or do chores around the house, to eat without distractions.

I''ve had some major life changes over the past year: marriage, three job changes, moved, and am trying to sell my house. Having to be at work by 5:30 has really killed my morning workouts and has added a second "breakfast" that needs to go back to snack proportions. Still trying to get into some semblance of a routine that includes exercise since I've gained back 20 of the pounds I'd lost.

I'd been mostly off processed/added sugars (except for rare/occasional pure maple syrup, honey, or organic evaporated cane sugar) and artificial sweeteners. My stress eating has gone from a Little Ceaser’s cheese pizza to a HaloTop ice cream (saving about 30+weight watcher points). I've greatly reduced intake of processed foods. Time to work on portion control and tracking. Oh...and meal planning!

My Goals:
1. integrate a regular exercise schedule into my week.
2. Cut out sugar and artificial sweeteners, processed foods.
3. Identify at least 3 alternatives to stress eating and start using them.
4. Learn how to do weekly meal planning.

My Program:
Food--resume tracking what I eat; eating a mostly whole food plant based diet; drinking at least 2 liters of water a day.

Exercise--aiming for at least 15 min in on the treadmill before I go to work and/or outside on the way home from work. Must get backside moving again!

Wellness-- 7-8 hours of sleep, time each day for spiritual practice, and returning balance to my life.

Personal Information:
I grew up in Georgia, moved out to Seattle for 18 years, and am now back in Georgia still trying to acclimated after being back for 10 yrs. I’ve got an awesome husband that’ll get up and make me coffee at 3 or 4 am when I’ve got to be at work at 4:30 or 5:30 depending on which clinic I’m at. I've got four psychokitties that are always helping me with something. I'm working on a home garden, slowly expanding each season. I’ve got lots of interests and nothing will snap me out of the blues like conversations on earthquakes, volcanoes, or plate tectonics.

Other Information:
I love reading anything having to do with the mind-body-spiritual connection. I loved the movies “Kundun” and "What the Bleep do We Know" My two other favorite movies are "Peaceful Warrior” and "Volcano." I’ve also become interested in diet and lifestyle and how both affect our overall health and wellbeing as well as how both can be used to help us heal.

I mostly make quilts for charity just using squares but I also like to try new things such as making half square triangles and making smaller projects like table runners and pillows to practice. I just bought a copy of Quilts from the Quiltmaker's Gift and plan to try out some of those squares too. What are your favorite types of quilts to make?
