I've been trying so hard to lose weight for a long while. I've made progress, and then lost it. I've had life get in the way. Most recently, I had the worst work schedule imaginable, so I was unable to log in, record food, or even really work out. Over the last year or so, I've been dealing with a smorgasbord of health issues, and rarely am able to do any significant "work-out" types of movement.

On April 22, 2014, I finally figured out what was going on. At a doctor's appointment, we laid out all the issues I'd been dealing with, and my provider checked a few things out. Sure enough: fibromyalgia. I admit, the word was pretty daunting. However, she explained that for many people, if they work hard and keep a good eye on various lifestyle choices, and using the right combination of treatments, fibromyalgia isn't the end of the world.

I am going to become a runner. I am going to get fit and healthy. I am going to get my symptoms under control. I just need to learn how to do it slowly, gently, and without causing any undue flare-ups. And I need to stop hiding. This site is for support, and I need to learn it's okay to ask for some.

I am remaking this page on May 1st, 2014. I am resetting my goals, and getting rid of all my previous posts. I'm starting fresh.

I'm taking back my life.

My Program:
I'm focusing on keeping my symptoms down, not on my weight. I need to accept that weight-loss is a secondary goal right now, because my body simply won't let me do an intense enough workout for serious calorie burning. To these ends, I'm making myself move, in some way, any way, every day. If all I can manage is some gentle stretches for 5 minutes, that's fine. If I can do more, even better. I'm eating healthy, limiting my medications as much as able, and learning to manage my symptoms holistically.
