Since all of that below, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. For me, it's an all-over body pain 24/7. I read about "flares" and I am like, "I don't get flares....because it's ALWAYS pain. This has severely limited my physical activity of all types. I am very limited how much time I am out and can handle maybe two stores before I have to call it quits. I am on Orencia infusions, but it's made very little difference in pain (my 2nd biologic and third or 4th in meds, altogether). I was thriving on Coke (as in Cola) for basic functioning (sleepiness is chronic).

We took my kids to a major amusement park a few weeks back. I hadn't been there in 20 years, but I am a HUGE roller coaster junkie and was stoked to go. That didn't work out so well for me. I did a few walks of shame when the belts wouldn't click around me. I am not 500 lbs by any means, but between the depo provera I had been on for nearly 5 years and the steroids for RA, there is an easy 50 pounds since I was at this park last. Plus, two of my favorites that used to be bench-seats with ONE large belt going over two people have since changed to INDIVIDUAL seats and individual belts. Less space just by that in those train cars. UGH

This whole thing CRUSHED me. I mean CRUSHED. So now, I have ditched the Depo Provera and refusing steroids because I am hell-bent on getting back on these coasters. AND, I have to lower the sodium as that is part of my kidney stone problems. FUN FUN. Did I mention I have celiac disease? I am so limited as it is on what I can eat, but I just may have to cheat on the gluten.

My only big obstacle is the activity level. I can cut calories, etc all I want, but what do I do about activity?? I am lucky to get up and down stairs as it is......


The below was the summer of 2007....I had taken a bit of weight off, but who would've thought putting it back ON would be THAT easy??? DANG! I am starting to wonder, as well, due to some symptoms, if I have a medical issue....

SO....I am back to track what I am eating to see if I can see a pattern of similar things that may cause a hypoglycemia issue (mainly happens when I eat cereal.....99% of the time that is ONLY when it happens).

Not doing a weight-loss thing at the time, but just trying to find patterns and discover issues.


I wasn't perfect before, but let me tell ya, marriage and two kids certainly did a number on me to the tune of 60lbs. YIKES. And now with a daughter who is 3 and a son who is 6 months, I am realizing my own mortality and what extra weight can do. I certainly want to be a part of my kids' life...not only NOW, but when they are older and start getting into school functions, etc.

We recently joined the Michigan Athletic Club in East Lansing. It wasn't a pretty price, let me tell ya, but we bit the bullet and did just can't put a price on health, right? That included 3 hours with a personal trainer (and I got one hour FREE because my trainer loves me SOOO much:) !!).

I've learned a TON from it, but I think the nutritional aspect still gets confusing to me and think THAT is going to be the hardest challenge to "get". OK..well, that and that STUPID Arc Trainer (that sucker exhausts me WATCHING it go!!!).

So here I am.....not sure how this is all going to go....but it can't get any worse, right??

My Goals:
First thing, I think I would just like to get down to where I was PRE-MARRIAGE. I wasn't perfect at that point, by any means...but it is a start!

My Program: personal trainer has me starting on an Arc Trainer for 3-5minutes with an incline of 6 and a resistance of 15. YAH. Can we say "SUCKY!!!!!!!!"???? Then....down to the weight room on various Cybex things for (like 5-6 different things) upper body. By the time I get done with both the Arc and is just over an hour. Lower body starts Friday.

I am 35, married w/ 2 kids, and live in the Lansing, MI area.

Other Information:
I am really getting addicted to scrapbooking.......and I also have an "addiction" to Gymboree for my kids.

    Actually, I walk on my break and lunch break at work. It is ALMOST impossible for me to do anything after work because my kids keep me SO busy. But whenever I have any extra time, the first thing I do is go for a walk. And yes, I do live in Lansing. My son actually races bikes at Gier sometimes. We probably live about 5 minutes away. =)
