I began on Sparkpeople in July 2009 at 192 lbs. In late 2007, I was as high as 203. I am now down over 60 lbs. in five years. I went from a size 18W to a size 8 in pants, and a 1X to a Medium misses on top. My bra size went down from a 42DD to a 38 D.

UPDATE: I have learned that losing weight and maintaining requires a lot of trial and error. If first you don't succeed, you need to keep finding ways to get through a plateau or a period of stagnation. Mixing up your plan is important, as is exercise. I also think you shouldn't believe anyone who tells you that you won't be hungry as you're losing weight. You shouldn't be starving, but some hunger is going to have to be expected. Your body needs time to adjust to reduced calories. It takes hard work and determination.

Sept. 2017--My weight has been creeping up in the past few years. Right now I weigh about 157. Still a size 8 (although 10 sometimes). That's OK but I want to look better. This is because I fell back into some old habits of munching out to either alleviate emotional anxiety, or to celebrate. There's always an excuse. I am genuinely determined to get to 140 this time and I think the Beck Diet Solution plus the 21 day sugar detox (followed by a plan I found online) will do the trick.

My Goals:
Finish losing the weight once and for all for my 55th birthday.

My Program:
I recently began the 21 Day Sugar Detox (it works - with some lapses but I am still keeping my calorie count down) AND the Beck Diet Solution. I now do about 50 minutes a day of exercise. I've added basic hatha yoga sometimes in the middle of the day and also at night. Meditation is also a regular part of my routine. I am a big fan of Ayurveda (Maya Branscombe has great yoga routines for each type), Tantra (which BTW is NOT about sex LOL) esp Hareesh Wallis. I got the Gaia app. It's amazing for mixing up your yoga and meditation routines.

Personal Information:
My favorite workouts are yoga (Yee, Saidman, Deason, Branscombe, others on Gaia); Jillian Michaels circuit training DVDs, Leslie Sansone Walk at Home and karate.

Other Information:
I get to do what I love for work. I am a senior advocate for a living. I love my job and my employer. I've been there 20 years now!

I work out every day although I use Monday as a "rest day" where I just do the minimum. I have to exercise every morning to relieve RA stiffness. I started Karate when I was 51. I'm set to test for Black Belt in 2018.

I love my family.

We recently lost our beloved cat (hence the new profile picture). Will we ever find a cat who was so special? I don't know. But in about a month we will be adopting 2 kittens and a puppy, because we want to share our love with these precious, innocent animals.
