At some point in the last 20 years I completely sat aside what was best for Cat and allowed my focus to become satisfying other people even at the detriment of myself and my needs. Now, I have looked in the mirror to find a woman who does not know herself, who is 204lbs overweight, has health issues that she never saw herself having and needs to make changes or there will not be another 42 years.

I want those years, so I have to reclaim myself. I have to not only lose the weight but deal with how it got there in the first place. I have to learn to set some boundaries for myself. I have to learn to, and this is not a misquote, "Let God and then let go." Someone has to be steering the ship, I have to learn to allow the Savior's hands to take the wheel before I let go of it or things get messy and out of control. I have a lot of work to do.

I am here because I figure I can use some advice and some companionship along the way. And maybe I will help someone make their reclamation.

When I am under 250lbs: I get new clothes.

When I am under 200lbs: I get a trip to Los Angeles to visit my Da

When I am under 150lbs: I am going to take dance lessons and go dancing.

When I reach goal: I am going to drop to my knees and thank God for keeping me through it all, for keeping those around me through it all, then I am going to get on a boat and go to Ireland and look up some long, lost cousins!

God, please add your blessing to this endeavor, guide me, give me strength, give me courage to face truths, give me wisdom to see lies. I place myself in your hands, Lord. Thy will be done. Amen.

My Goals:
To safely and slowly reclaim my life. Not just lose weight, but fix the things about me that allowed me to gain it in the first place. To draw back closer to the Lord, to figure out where the Word fits and how it fits into my life. To regain my self-confidence, self-worth and self-esteem and to have them not be focused around how my outsides look, but on who I am.

My Program:
I am taking a four pronged approach each month to this project. First, each month has a theme or issue I am dealing with. Each month also comes with a quote and four Bible verses to be studied and then a physiological issue to be focused on. For example: February is Why am I Uncomfortable with being fat?; "No more words, hear only the voice inside." - Rumi; James 4:17, Rom 7:14-25; 8m 8oz glasses of water daily.

Personal Information:
I am from the desert. A perfect little town in southern New Mexico called Las Cruces. I now live in a sprawling, frozen metropolis called Denver. This is where God wants me, it is something we talk about often. I am the founder and president of Leaving The Shadows Behind, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping victims and survivors of child sexual abuse become thrivers and dealing with Congress until stronger, clearer laws are in place to protect children from the predator in the home.

Other Information:
I am fascinated with ghosts. Love vampire stories. I am really into Tudor England, Shakespeare, The Arcane, and quotations. My favorite book of all time is Son of the Morning by Linda Howard, my favorite movie is Practical Magic, my favorite musical is Kiss Me Kate, my favorite band is Journey with Steve Perry and I love Barry Manilow and Berloiz.
