Here I go! Praying I can do it again!
In 1995 I had a baby (my eleventh child) and weighed 210 lbs. post-natal. I went on a diet and after a year I weighed in at 138 lbs, just 8 lbs short of my highschool weight of 130 lbs. Four years later I had my twelfth child, gained thirty pounds, but took it off in a relatively short time. Both times I used diet and exercise to achieve weight loss. I followed my plan and kept the weight pretty constant.
In 2004 I began plans for the wedding of my oldest daughter. My employer offered a bargain for using a personal trainer and I signed up. I worked with the trainer and while toning up I gained 10 lbs! (Pretty sure it was muscle :) Clothes fit well and I felt great.
From that time I began to move my way into menopause and with that I began to put on the pounds.
In the fall of October, 2010 I was really getting frustrated because I couldn't seem to reverse the process-mentally and physically. I just couldn't muster the motivation to do all the planning and figuring my diet required. In addition, I think I weighed about 170 lbs and was really depressed. I really needed something that would do the planning for me-I just didn't have the energy to do it alone anymore. That's when I came across the Sparkpeople website. Talk about a Godsend.
I followed the program and by February of 2011 I had lost 20 lbs and was feeling almost like my old self. Then I stopped following the program. Why? I'm not really sure. A lot of pressures and life changes were going on, and I'm sure I was using food to smother the emotions.
I continued on that path until April, 2012, when I finally came to admit that food isn't helping to solve problems and I realize it has only added another problem! Now I am overweight and courting health problems associated with being overweight!
8/10/2012-On the program for four months now. I've lost 21 lbs and I am still feeling motivated to continue, although I must admit July was a tough month. I had a lot of fun time activity with family and that always includes food, too-lots of food! But I made it through and I'm still here, working my program as well as I can.
