I have a sister who could stand to lose 100-150 pounds. Like me, she was a skinny child so don't play that "This is how I have always been" card on me. Anyway, when I started running at age 56 she warned me earnestly, "That is a stupid thing you are doing. At your age, you are going to have to have a knee replacement." "You first." I told her.
Sure enough, last year she got two, count 'em, two new knees. The excessive weight is way more likely to destroy your knees than any amount of proper running. I did not say "I told you so." But after she got them, she still insisted my day was coming "because of all that running you do. Here's the name of my orthopedist." MY orthopedist just laughed at that story and told me not to worry. 2597 days ago
