Time to try again. Starting out with baby steps. Logging in everyday, drinking water again, changing some eating patterns. I've had many health issues and many stem from my weight. I've ditched the drugs they've had me on and I'm about to make myself better. I want to live again.
Here I am back again. Lot's has happened and changed since I drifted away from Sparkpeople. Thanks to Ma Stumne for dragging me back, with some kicking and screaming and tears along the way! I left my previous intro text below. SInce I wrote all that I have had 3 surgeries, 2 major, a knee replacement a year ago January and hammertoe surgery almost 5 years ago. Had a knee scope done 18 months ago. After the toe surgery I lost my job, which did a number on me mentally. I got it back again with full seniority then 18 months later the knee started going. I became very depressed and in constant pain. The pounds piled back on and needless to say I couldn't do much after the knee surgery. I finally retired this past March, couldn't handle walking on the concrete and doing the lifting required of my job. Now I'm back to finish healing mentally and to lose this blasted wight and strengthen my core.
I joined Sparkpeople in July of 2006. When I had lost almost 50 pounds by January 2007, I decided to give thanks for my newly found good health by doing something for someone else. I made a goal to walk the Avon Beast Cancer Walk in charlotte, NC on Oct. 20-21. Well, I did that! I reached my goal and surpassed my greatest expectations! What a wonderful, fullfilling experience it was too.
I did not reach all my goals in 2008 BUT I did my best and made progress in all of them. That is what counts, striding forward, one step at a time. Sometimes I even went backward but the important thing was to get back on track and go forward again.
1. Reach financial fitness. I have a plan and it is working. We are slowly paying off debt and should have all our credit cards paid off this year! Yeah!
2. Reach my weight goal. I went backwards on this one and I've gained. However, I'm taking that small step forward and I will make progress this year!
3. Crew the Charlotte Avon Breast Cancer Walk in OCt. 2009. I don't think my feet can make the walk this year as my arthritis is getting painful. I plan on volunteering my time and skills to help my walk buddy raise her money and to help make the walk in Charlotte a success.
4. Be a more loving, supportive wife. Smile when I'm tired and crabby. It's not his fault. Stop being so critical and be more appreciative of his good traits. After all, those are the things I married him for.
These resolutions are not easy but with the confidence that Sparkpeople has given me I know I can do it. Thank you Sparkpeople.
