Hi. I am a 67 years old and have been overweight since 1995. The closest I have gotten to my goal weight of 135 (and maybe lower) was in October of 2018 when I landed at 158. Due to health issues and lack of being able to "get back in the rhythm" I got back to 186 and I didn't make my 5% goal of a 9.3 lb weight loss in the Fall Challenge, but during the in-between challenge I have continued to lose and have exceeded the goal and lost a total of 13.8pounds (which is 7.4% of 186) pounds since the beginning of the challenge, which was Oct 3. My current weight is 172.2.

I had my cataract surgery during the Summer Challenge, and the Prednisolone eye drops that I have had to use daily for the last 5+ weeks has raised my blood sugar. I cut back my carbs but in Sept a CT scan revealed plaque buildup in my aorta.

My Goals:
To hopefully clear out the plaque in my veins by eating a vegan diet with low fat and no more than 10mg of cholesterol a day. I have a cup of fat free yogurt or a cup of skim milk daily for the B12, and I have brown rice with beans once a day for the amino acids that I would get from meat. I see my Doctor at the end of Jan to see how I am doing. Because of the buildup and my age I cannot overly stress myself or work out to exhaustion.

My Program:
I will go for longer time with less stress on my heart and spread it out throughout the day. It will include stretching, which reportedly helps prevent hardening of the arteries. I will dance moderately, and of course as a housewife I will do what needs to be done....but only count as exercise those activities that actually burn more calories.

Personal Information:
Married 46 years to a wonderful man. We are Christians and my faith is an important part of my life. I would not be the person I am today without Jesus and I am eternally grateful to have been born into a Christian family in a country in which I am free to worship, have my Bible, and practice my faith. I am blessed to live in a country in which our laws are based on the Word of God! We have two grown children, 6 grands and a great-grand. Love to cook. Also sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch and do crafts. Read. Play piano, saxophone, and accordion. Write music, prose, and poetry. Had a very hard time when the kids left the nest. Took 13 years for me to get over it. Gained this weight when I got something called Lichen Planus caused by an antibiotic called Cipro that destroyed all of my gut bacteria

Other Information:
My true highest beginning weight was 227 in Feb of 2011. Somewhere I think there is a picture of me then. If I can find it, it will be my Before Picture. My fasting blood sugar was 116 at my highest weight. Lost 20 pounds in 4 months by just watching my portions but my blood sugar didn't change. Went on Atkins and in 3 days my fasting blood sugar was 98. I stayed on it from June 1 2011 until mid October lost 37 more for a total of 57 pounds lost but then ate a piece of birthday cake (though I didn't crave a thing) and fell way off the wagon.. Got off Atkins and gained 20 back. I have been rocking back and forth with those 20 or 30 pounds for years and now it has to stop! UPDATE! IT DID STOP! I lost 42 pounds from Jan 1 2017 to the end of Sept. and my A1C dropped to 5.2

I have been struggling with being obese for about 15 years hobbies are I like to read and crochet and even like to be active despite being almost 300 pounds. I am looking for friends and advice as to how to create a profile so people can get to know me. I will figure it out eventually but just I am just not too computer savvy. I enjoyed reading about you.
