I am 59 years old - oops, now 60 yo!, mother of 3 sons, and grandmother of 7! I am a Creative Memories Consultant, and retired from my full-time job. My husband is also retired, and we love to travel, particularly to Disney World and on Cruises. Since I turned 50, I have managed to put on at least 5 pounds a year, and while I used to be able to take a few pounds off easily, somehow I've let these 5 or so pounds find a permanent home on my body!
I love to scrapbook, but I have gotten more and more unhappy with the way that I look in pictures. I also have found it harder to keep up with my grandkids because of the extra weight I'm carrying, and I'm starting to have trouble with my knees

My Goals:
I would like to lose 40 - 50 pounds and never be above 140 again for the rest of my life.
I'd also like to be able to travel, have a part time job at Disney World, and promote to Creative Memories Director!

My Program:
To meet my weight loss goal, I am stepping up my exercise - going to Curves 3 x a week and trying to walk, bike or golf the other days. I also am tracking my food every day, and working with the Curves Permanent Solution to raise my metabolism by eating more frequently.

Personal Information:
I live in Southeast Michigan with my husband of 38 years. We have 3 sons, also in Michigan & 7 Grandchildren. We are originally from Ohio, so are still Buckeye fans and are close to our family in Ohio. We have a cottage in the U.P., and also are wanna-be-snowbirds.

Other Information:
I'm a Creative Memories Consultant, and trying to figure out how I can maintain and grow my business now that my husband & I are both retired. We love to travel - especially on cruises - and I'm compiling a list of 1000 places to see before I die. Scrapbooking is my passion - especially making albums of our travels and of our grandchildren.
Since we never decided what we wanted to do when we grow up, we are trying to decide if we want to relocate to warmer climate for the winter months, and along with trying to get my body in shape, I'm also working on getting our house in shape - trying to get rid of some of the clutter that we've accumulated in 38 years and get our house ready to sell if we decide to move to another state.

    Hi Jacque,
We do have a lot in common! If you keep working hard like you are, you'll be surprised at how well the weight loss goes. Thank you for your kind remarks on my sparkpage. Losing weight has helped me feel younger, and I think I look younger as well. I have to give some credit to Dr. Wexler's formulas that can be purchased at Bath and Body Works. I usually buy them when they are on sale for half price. I think they have helped with toning the skin as well as wrinkles.

My hair is just as is, but I like to use dye once in awhile. I do the home version, since it costs so much less. You asked about my CM experience. Yes, I was a downline of Dawn's. Actually, through Libby (my group leader was Kathy Eustis in St. Pete). I was a consultant for 2 years, mainly so that I could purchase products at a discount. So after I accumulated quite a bit of stock, it was time to step back and just scrapbook for awhile. I really enjoy doing it, and I have to create a journal for my ceramics class at St. Pete College, so the scrapbooking has come in handy. The teacher says my journal sets the standard. I include a lot of photos of my work, articles I've found on the internet and in magazines, and many thoughts, both of my own and others. CM definitely gave me a lot to think about when I do my actual journaling. We probably were in Orlando at the same time. I went to a couple of conventions. The last one was a couple of years ago, when they said it would be the last one and they were going to regional one day events. That didn't go over so well, so now they're back to the bigger events. I still go to crops and special events that my consultant offers. This year I've been regressing since I've been working so hard with ceramics classes (many extra hours beyond class time). I am working on getting my "craft room" in order so that I can get back to my albums. The latest one has been one for my husband during his childhood. He loved it! I'm not quite sure what the next one will be. Guess I need some focus. Have you checked with program directors at senior centers to see if you could offer classes? Some of the ladies in my group were into the brides events locally, and they did pretty well. I just wasn't that interested in the business part.

Hope you are able to get the jobs at Disney. Most everyone I have talked to there is happy with their jobs. It is a great place to be. I've often thought of working there, even to go up one or two days a week. It would be worth it to have the perks that go along with being an employee. Let me know how you are doing with your weight loss. Karen

    Hi Jacque,
I saw your post on the cruise to lose team and wanted to say hello. I also love scrapbooking (former CM consultant). I'm 52, and have lost 50 lbs. over the past 10 months. I love Disney, and since I live a couple of hours away, enjoy going occasionally. If you end up relocating to FL, they have resident passes that are great! You sound like you're on the right track to losing, so keep up your exercise programs and keep track of what you are eating. That really helped me to realize just how much I was eating and to my surprise, what I could be satisfied with. I do feel a lot healthier, and people tell me that I look younger. Lifestyle changes are a great way to look at it too, rather than a diet/weight loss program. Best of luck! Karen
