It's Time 2 Do Me
UPDATE 2/15/2009
What can I say. Maintaing weight to me is harder then trying to lose weight...lol...Right now I am really into weight training and reshaping, toning, and sculpting my body. I love seeing new muslces appear in places they once were. I'm trying to eat really lean because I am trying to reduce my body fat percentage and have a muscular but sexy build like Serena Williams. So now my goals are to get my body fat percentage between 12%-19%.
My workout routine ...

My workout routine has changed also. Since I have bad knees, ankles, and shins...getting old...lol....I had to give up Turbo Jam Kick Boxing for good. I haven't done TKB in about 3 months. Now I cycle religously. Usually 5 times a week and if I miss a cycle class I do the elliptical instead. I still take 2 rest days and I still strength train 3 times a week but I don't do lower body anymore due to stress the weights put on my joints. I haven't did lower body weights in about 8 months. I blame cycle class for the muscle build and the toness of my legs...lol ...I just adjust my tension to challenging and just work it out! With enough resistance, it gives my legs a good workout.
So a new journey awaits me as I try to maintain weight while becoming leaner, toner, and tighter. So with a clean diet and continuing my workout routine my body fat percentage should drop.
UPDATE 12/31/2008
A NEW YEAR & A NEW ME
Wow what can I say one year ago I was sitting in my bed, depressed eating on a snicker bar when a tv special on E! about diets came on. That's where I learned about Sparkpeople. From then on I never looked back. Sparkpeople has changed my life and my way of thinking! I am more energized, active, and most importantly HEALTHY.
When it comes to food it is just habit for me now to choose what is more benificial for me. I am not tempted by the sweets and the fried foods and I know how to treat myself without devouring and going overboard.
My lifestyle has changed for the best. I am able to keep up with my now 2 year old and actually wear her out instead of it being the other way around.
I know where I've come from, where I've been, and where I'm going. If it wasn't for the test I wouldn't have a TESTimony. I am grateful to GOD that he sent this spark in my life! I will continue to SPARK and SPARK others. This journey is far from over!
UPDATE Sept 5, 2008
I been Sparking for 8 months now and I thought I should bring my page up to date. Alot of people have asked me what I am doing since my journals are private. Well as far as nutrition I just simply stay within the ranges SP has for me. As far as exercise when I first started it was a slow start. I was only working out 3 times a week and was only walking for 30 min, lightly jogging, and using the elliptical for 15 minutes working my way up to 30 minutes by my third month. By the end of my third month I decided to step up my game and push myself so I now work out 60 minutes a day 5 days a week and I strength train 3 times a week.
Here is a summary of what I do:
Mondays- Turbo Jam Kick Boxing
Tuesdays- Strength Train, Spin Class
Weds.-Rest Day
Thurs-Strength Train, Spin Class
Fri- Cardio (Elliptical, Treadmill...)
Sat- Strength Train, Step aerobics
Sun- Rest Day
I've come to realize rest days are just as important as the days you work out, especailly when you are kicking your body into overdrive 5 days a week.
Here are 2 examples of what I eat in a day:
Breakfast- Quaker Oatmeal w/ sliced bananas or peaches
or waffles w/ sugar free syrup and turkey bacon or turkey sausage.
Morning Snack- Fruit Cup or
nutri grain bar
Lunch- Grilled Chicken Salad w/ vinigerrette dressing or
any of Michelina's Lean Cusine Meals
Afternoon Snack- Chocolate covered pretzels or raisens or
trail mix or mixed nuts
Dinner- Teriyaki Wings & Vegetable Stir Fry or
Turkey Wings, Collard Greens, & Sweet Potatos
Evening Snack- Yogurt or icecream
Since joining Spark this is the most I have ever cooked in my life but it is so benificail because I can prepare meals in a healthy way instead of the way they would be cooked if I went out to eat. It's also cheaper too!
Without the guidance of Sparkpeople and the positive feedback and encouraging messages I recieve from my fellow Sparkers, there is no way I would be where I am today and it excites me even more to know there is more up the road ahead! This is not diet it's a lifestyle change and I am so thankful to have been directed towards this way of living. Keep on Sparking cause I know I will!!
I'VE DONE ME! NOW IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO DO YOU!
Jan. 7, 2007
Ok I have procrastinated long enuff. It's time for me to do me and get my butt back in shape. I have always been slender until recently. I had a baby a year ago and since then I have really let myself go. I battled with Post Partum Depression and used food as my crutch and my comforter. I just want to feel comfortable in my skin again but most importantly live a healthy lifestyle so I can be on this earth to enjoy my daughter. With hard work and determination I know I can reach my goals. I'm tired of cropping my body out of pictures...LOL!! It's time to make a change! It's time 2 do me!!!
