I have had issues with my weight since I was 12 years old. I have dieted off and on and lost the weight and then put it back on. I once again lost the weight a few years ago via Sparkpeople, but I have begun to add some of it back on little by little. It started around Christmas of 2011. I gained back around 10 - 15 pounds over a few months, but really saw it keep creeping on during this past Christmas season and beyond. I have now gained back almost 40 pounds! I am VERY frustrated with myself. Today I am joining a 90 day challenge that I hope will help me get in the habit of strength training. That is one of the main areas in which I struggle. I will strength train for a few days or a few weeks; but then I stop, because I find cardio a lot easier and I burn more calories with it. I do know, however, (based on all the information out there) that if I would just stick with the strength training I would end up burning more. Unfortunately, I want the quick fix.
I have become a runner! Which was one of my goals over the last couple of years. This past Fall, my husband and I ran the equivalent of a 5k. With the time change and the colder weather, however, we stopped running. I purchased a gym membership for both of us a couple of weeks ago, and I am now going through a 4 week program to get myself back into running. I also purchased a fitbit for my birthday this month, to help me get more active.
I plan to become much more active here on Sparkpeople, to help me with my goals.

My Goals:
I will get my weight down to 140 pounds. No excuses!

I want to make strength training a natural part of my life. No Excuses!

I want to run my first real 5k this year. No Excuses!

I want to start and complete at least 3 cross stitch projects this year.

I want to read and/or listen to 13 books in 2013 from start to finish, not counting books that I started last year but didn't finish.

I want to complete 10 crochet and/or knitting projects in 2013.

My Program:
I will complete the 4 week program on FitSugar to get me back into running.

I will commit to reading and either crocheting, knitting, and/or cross stitching for at least 30 minutes per day.

Personal Information:
Hi, My name is Connie and I live in Ohio. We moved here in June 2011, after our daughter graduated from high school. She is now attending The Art Institute of Cincinnati. We love it here! I am originally from Indiana, and where we live in Ohio is only about 2 1/2 - 3 hours from family and friends.

Other Information:
I love to read, cross stitch, and crochet. I took a beginner's class for knitting, I just need to practice more and start some projects.

Thank you for the spark goodie. I did have a very nice day! I think this is the first time in ages it hasn't been steaming hot on my birthday! Beautiful outside. DH was great. Now if we could get the stuff down to the basement and the cats to like each other!

I read Pros & Cons (Novella) and decided I had to get The Heist. It's on my Kindle so as soon as I finish the book I'm reading I'll be reading that!

I just finished The Heist and it was awesome. Not like the Plum series, but good in a different way. Love the character Nick Fox. Couldn't put it down. Had to read it till the end. Bev

Ah, Connie! You are STILL so motivational! I just came back to Sparkpeople for the first time in ages- I wanted to see what the new "food tracker" thing is about (not interested, but I started wandering, lol). You have come so far!! I hope you're still doing well- I got all down in the dumps because of my ankle injury, but I'm making small changes and trying to get back into the swing of things. Anyway: Thanks for being a good motivator and support- both here and on FB :) Take care!!

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
