I was a fat, teased child. A smart, fat, ignored teenager. A smart, obese young adult and then...at 26 my health starts to go down, down down. I was 26, 5'6 and 248 pounds. I had just been diagnosed with thyroid disease and was suffering from clinical depression. Through trial and error, small changes, and the encouragement of friends, I now weigh 197 pounds. I have lost 7 inches off my waist and can wear a size 12 for the first time EVER. I do 200 minutes of cardio a week supplemented with weight training.

When I started to try to lose weight, I didn't realize that I was setting out on a journey to change my entire self. I bought myself braces that I had always needed for my teeth. I went to therapy (still go) that I knew I always needed and both of those actions led me to feeling so much better about myself that it made this possible. I truly feel that everyone can benefit from therapy, especially those of us that have been overweight for so long that we don't know anything else.

As 2008 got underway, I felt strong, content, and sure of myself. In April I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It was quickly removed via surgery, but that is something you do not forget, that changes your life, that changes how you see everything. There have been many sad, lonely moments for me since, but I know the journey I was in the midst of had made me strong for this challenge. I am grateful and want to live this life to the absolute fullest.

In 2009, I want to run a half-marathon. Someday soon I want to hike up to Macchu Picchu. I want to lose another forty pounds, but it would mean even more to me to reduce my body fat to 30%

My Goals:
-To run a half marathon

-To reduce my body fat to 30%.



My Program:
Currently nursing right knee injury, so I do 50 minutes on the Precor three days a week, 45 minutes on precor and 15 on stairmill once a week. I weight train 20 minutes three days a week. I eat high protein (seafood only), high vegetable, high fiber.
