In January 2003 my hubby and I decided that we just had to loose weight. We started on Adkins and had good results. I lost about 30 lbs in 6 month and for me that's pretty much where the story has stopped. My hubby is a real inspiration for me because he worked hard and continued to have success. He has lost nearly 100 lbs and is now an endurance athlete. He did his first triathlon (a sprint) in Oct '04. In June '06 he finished his 1st Half Ironman in 5 hours - truely a remarkable accomplishment.

As for me I've been stuck - I consider myself to be the Queen of Stuck. My motto right now is "Desperate times call for desperate measures" - in June '06 I took leave of my sense and signed up for my first triathlon - this weight is going to come off one way or another. My first race was 9/17/06 in Sandy Hook NJ. I didn't set any speed records, but, by golly, I finished.
I also finished another sprint distance race in Oct. '06.
The scale hasn't moved nearly as much as I would like - so I'm continuing on with the endurance sport madness. My race schedule for '07 was:
6/2/07 Pocomoke, MD - 2 hrs 15 mins 17 sec.
8/19/07 Columbia, MD - 2hrs 47 min 34 sec (long course)
9/16/07 Sandy Hook, NJ-1 hr 40 min 25 sec (beat '06 by 9 m)
10/6/07 Public Landing, MD - 2 hrs 2min 14 sec

Best of luck to you tomorrow! I can't wait to hear how it goes! I'm in training myself for a 39 mile walkathon. It's amazing what we can do isn't it?! You mentioned Columbia. Would that be Columbia, SC? If so, I'll have to come cheer you on!

    Hi, Brenda,

I read with great interestyour comments about your triathelon training and event. This is a HUGE accomplishment and very inspirational to someone, like myself, whose idea of exercising is a quick paced walk!

I'm so excited to be your partner for the June Bug Challenge! Because we are the Firefly team, I know we can "spark" each other towards achieving our goals. We'll let our "lights" shine for all to see!
