We're here to try again... We're not starting until next week, but this week I am reviewing everything & getting use to this site again. I desperately need a diet plan to get started with that gives me a menu & grocery list and all I have to do is prepare the food. All 3 of us agreed to try the meal plan on here for at least a couple weeks, to see if we can handle it. I'm hoping we can try for a month. The menu plan on here uses foods that we have never used or are so different than what we are use to. Also, it calls for us to use such small amounts of some items in one week, that the rest of that item will spoil. This is a problem for us, as we can't afford to be frivolous with our food budget. I am hoping to switch out some foods in the meal plan to make sure I am not buying products that we won't use all of before they spoil. If this works for a bit, I hope I can learn to figure out healthy meals on my own. Learning how to make a healthy meal plan is my biggest hurdle to grocery shopping and providing my family healthy meals. I don't want to just eat a piece of meat and a salad. So I guess we will see how it goes...

Life is funny... You think you are doing things for the right reason, but years later, you find out that you were wrong! My family has gone through a lot over the last 7 years. I don't feel that I am capable of making change anymore that is going to be good in the long run. I am hopeful, though. My son needs me to be!

So the long & the short of it is that we are now 3 people, who desperately need to be healthy. My son started gaining weight about 5 yrs ago (even though we were eating very healthy & exercising at the time!) and the doctors just kept telling us he will balance out as he gets taller. He is now severely obese. There is so much more info to say about this, but the main thing I need to do right now is to help him eat healthier again and get him exercising more.

I started back up on Sparkpeople hoping for help with meal ideas, as well as for food tracking.

April 11, 2009 * Hello, my name is LaNette and I am an enabler! *
My husband just spent almost a month in the hospital, mostly due to complications caused by his obesity. While he was there, one doctor was very blunt with me about my husband's health and it was like God used him to "slap" me into reality! I realized that I was in denial of how badly I enable my husband (thus feeding my weight prob too) and that it is time to stop!!!

I may not be on SparkPeople daily, like I want to, but we definitely will be continueing on with our new healthy lifestyle. My husband's life depends on it! I believe the changes we are making are God's will and he will give us the strength to accomplish them!

JANUARY 11, 2009 * I AM BACK!!! *
My husband lost his job a couple months ago and has fallen into a desparate depression! I have to re-commit to our "healthy" lifestyle and do what I can to help our family!

I had to go back to work in October, as my home job ended and I wasn't finding any further work from home. It is so hard to find time for everything and feel like I am giving my family the quality time I should too!

I am relying on the Lord above to give me the strength and tools needed to accomplish a healthier body, mind, and family!

Please know that if I don't get back to you for a while, when you send me a message, that it is just that I didn't have time to. I will be logging my food daily and that may be all I will have time for to start with.

For all those out there supporting me & my family, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! God bless!

My name is LaNette. I am from the great state of Washington in the Pacific NW! I have a wonderful husband and an awesome son (who will be 4 yrs old in July '08).

I was pretty fit and athletic in my younger years and tried to stay that way in my early 20's. Life has a way of just going by in a flash and, before I knew it, I had ballooned up to over 250 lbs and am totally out of shape!

My husband is severely obese, too, so we are hoping to lose a total of 525 lbs!!! We have tried to lose before and did good one time, until the holidays came along. This time we are trying a different approach, with including our family, friends, church, neighbors, this site, and, especially, God to be our supporters and help hold us accountable! I know we can do it with all the great people we have backing us!

LaNette, Welcome to SparkPeople and Fit and Trim! You have come to the right place to learn tolive a healthy lifestyle. You have a greatmotivator for accomplishing your goals ... that adorable four-year-old son! Just think of the great role models you and your husband will be for him if you change your eating habits to ones that are healthy.

You will have to accept the fact that living a healthy lifestyle is a lifelong work in progress! You will probably slip of the path and that's okay. The important thing is to return to the path and not useit as an excuse to go back to the old ways. Set your mini-goals so that you will feel good by reaching them. My mini-goal for Fit and Trim is to lose 10 pounds by Labor Day. I would love to lose 15 but that may not be realistic.

There are some great motivators on this site. One is LaRaine and another is Quilthorse. I so admire the accomplishments of these ladies.

My daughter in law stamps and she makes the nicest cards. I love getting them from her.

    I wish you well, Dori
