I'm closing in on 40, and want to start that decade in the best shape possible. I ate away my 20's. I lost a bunch of weight at 32 and thought I'd live my 30's to their fullest, but over the ages of 34-39, I gained a lot of that weight back and ended up wasting most my 30's. Now I'm faced with a new opportunity to live it up in my 40's, and I'm NOT going to waste it!

I've never "had it all". In my 20's, I was overweight, single and in school. I got my first job at 29, but still had the weight issues and was still single and extremely lonely. At 32 I joined Spark, lost 60 pounds and started running. I met a lot of really great people that became my training family, and developed some real friendships. I was still single and bouncing from job to job, never able to land anything permanent. I gained back 20 pounds over a couple of years, but was running and cycling and leveled off at that weight. Life was fun, but being single and only occasionally employed, I was lonely and I was broke.

I went through a pretty significant emotional trauma at 36. Through a pretty crazy set of circumstances, I stopped working out and ended up gaining back another 20 pounds, I lost most of my training buddies because I just couldn't keep up, and in the end lost a lot of those friendships. But I did start a beautiful relationship with the most wonderful man.

At 38, I got a permanent full-time job, and now at 39, for the first time in my life I'm now at a point where I feel I can settle down. Except for my weight, my fitness, everything has fallen into place.

I love my job. I love my relationship. If I can just get back to my happy weight, to that level of fitness where I am able to go out and do the activities I love, I will finally, for the first time in my life, be right where I want to be.

Fitness Minutes: 175

My Goals:

Get back into good enough shape that I can love running again. This time around, focus on speed rather than distance!
My big goals are a 22 minute 5K, a 47 minute 10K, a 1:45 half-marathon, and maybe one day, that elusive sub-4:00 marathon.

To work on my cycling confidence and skills. To get to that point where I can go on cycling vacations with my boyfriend.

My Program:

Run 3-4 days a week, anywhere from 4-8 Km for now.
Cycling 1-2 days a week, anywhere from 30-90 minutes indoors during the winter
Hitting the gym 4-5 days a week, anywhere from 20-60 minutes of strength training

But overall, the main program is to STOP EATING DIRTY FOOD!!
