I haven't lost weight for quite a while but I haven't gained any, either. It's very hard for me to hold to 1500 calories/day, although I did it today. It's not the lack of exercise...it's the excess calories that I'm trying to eliminate. Everyone knows that new healthy habits are notoriously hard to develop.

My Goals:
To stay healthy, eat better, and have some fun.

My Program:
 I do stretches every morning, and I walk 6 days/week. I walk with the Volksmarchers (ava.org), some friends 1X/week, and meetups (info@meetup.com). I'm on SP's 10K/day team, which is very motivating. From time to time, I have a session at our community gym.


Personal Information:
I have always lived in St. Louis. I've been married for over 30 years to Gordon, a very patient man. We have two adult children and two grandsons, 23 and 10, who live in Albuquerque. I retired from teaching high school, but then helped a friend at her preschool for 3 years. I am very much enjoying retirement.

Other Information:
 Favorite TV shows: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, John Oliver, Bill Maher, Samantha Bee's Full Frontal, and Stephen Colbert's Tonight. We obviously like news satire.

Favorite books: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel, Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon, The Help by Kathryn Stockett

    My purpose for emailing is not so much to "keep in touch with friends" but, as you mentioned, business stuff. Emailing is not much for "fun" stuff. I love going on spark, but my time sparking is mostly for blogging and interacting with sparkfriends through the games. I haven't done the food tracking, but I do the exercise tracking.

    As far as facebook, we have connected so that's good. I don't post information on facebook, but I will comment on posts.

    Nowadays with folks living to 100, the age of 75 is very young. Soon I'll be there. What's really sad is that three of the four daughters have passed, and the dad passed 10 years ago at age 91. Her mom is now 97 and still has her two sons. To lose three of her daughters at a young age (64, 71, and 75) is very devastating.

    We were lucky to have three state holidays (Prince Kuhio Day, March 26; King Kamehameha Day, June 11; and Admissions Day, August 18 or thereabouts, the closest Friday to the actual Admissions Day). We also have Good Friday off but we gave up Discoverer's Day in October. Every month we have at least one holiday (except October), and some months we have two, sometimes three. January we have two, November we have two or three if it is an election year.

    Hi- I joined Fatsecret.com. The sparkle and shine group is the one where SP refugees are going. I know some of them. It's like SP, but so confusing, as is most sites at first. I'm sure going to miss SP! emoticon
