Hi, I have put on some uncomfortable pounds, so I am back at the wheel--driving my "car" to the success of being thinner and feeling better.

It is difficult to dodge the temptations, but it can be done: just look at these phrases of encouragement:

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." TS Elliot

"It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is best from the top." A. Bennett
"Difficulties increase the nearer we approach the goal." Goethe

"Always rise from the table with an appetite and you will never sit down without one." W. Penn

"We gain the strength of the temptation we resist." R.W. Emerson

"I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living." John D. Rockefellar

Shyness has a strange element of narcissism, a belief that how we look, how we perform, is truly important to other people.
- André Dubus

"Age is not important unless you're a cheese."
--Helen Hays

"A problem is a chance for you to do your best."
— Duke Ellington

"If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them." M.K. Gandhi

"One who gains strength by overcoming obstacles possesses the only strength which can overcome adversity" Schweitzer

"There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still."
Franklin D. Roosevelt

"Procrastination is, hands down, our favorite form of self-sabotage" Cornyn-Selby

"How soon 'not now' becomes never" Martin Luther

"Procrastination is like a credit card: it's lots of fun until you get the bill" Christopher Parker

"I don't wait for moods. You accomplish nothing if you do that. Your mind must know it has got to get down to work." Pearl S. Buck

Action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility.
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"Fall seven times, STAND UP eight." Japanese Proverb

"Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun." M.L. Cook

It opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.
--Milton Berle

Learning to wait out the urge to eat—usually just 10 to 15 minutes—can be a simple psychological change that makes a significant difference.

Katherine Mansfield: Optimism Quotes
I have made it a rule of my life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy... you can't build on it; it's only good for wallowing in.

Muhammed Ali: Optimism Quotes
If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can sure make something out of you.

Hi emoticon . Thanks for the feed question about the virtual race.
I don't know how to get you to the page for them, but in the SPARK search put "Virtual Race" and it should take you to a link for the page. There are weekly virtual races, from 5K to 10K. They are at all levels - walking (my personal favorite), walk/run, and running. You enter for whatever week you want to aim for, then ask for an email reminder. That week you time your distance, and enter it in the results. Other Sparkers are doing the same.
I do mine on the elliptical machine.

It's great if you don't have local races, don't want to spend money SMILE, or just want to challenge yourself. TRY IT!
