SparkPeople has changed my life!!!

I had been bedridden for over 12 years due to Chronic Migraines (averaged 15-22 migraines a month since I'm 16 years old .... then in 1981 after many years of documentation of daily journals the Neurologists pinned down the cause environmental and weather changes)

After years of pain medications ..... Hospitalization ... Neurological Migraine Studies with some benefits, I was still unable to function on a regular daily basis.... My Neurologist had spoken to me many times about "Botox Injections for Migraines" and it's success rate .... I was definitely hesitant/scared of the unknown and possible side effect .... 10 years has gone by and still every 3 months she injects 22-26 needles in my head/temples ...

This medical wonder has changed my life ..... I was finally able to have a normal life!!

I now needed to get back on my feet and healthy..... Googled weight loss program and here my journey started .... getting the feel and understanding the program .... to where I am now Challenges ...."Champions in the Kitchen" ....." WRJ&G" ..... "Spirited Underdogs" ..."Black Panthers (Biggest Losers) returning to "WRJ&G" ..... "Rowdy Rebels" for quite a few years now ....

I lost 50 lbs. in the first 3 years with SP .... Feeling great!!!....

April 2012 .... I accidentally injured my left knee, not able to exercise as much awaiting for knee surgery which took 2 years. Gained back 20 lbs. (ouch) following the surgery, family illness and related stress :( .... opted out of the many Teams and Challenges .... for that year.

December 2013 .... I was coming down our slanted driveway just a bit of snow and ice ... legs flew up flipped my foot completely sideways broke my right ankle in 3 places .... surgery/plates/screws .... physiotherapy .... 4 months after they had to remove all appliance in my ankle .... they were affecting my Migraines (go figure ....)

September 2017 ..... Cataract Surgery for both eyes ....I followed that with an itty bitty pitty party (Migraines grrrrrr!) as well as a break from everything and anything I could .... Had Cataract Surgery for both eyes in December .... Super Duper Vision Now!

December 2017 ..... DH was diagnosed with Dementia...I saw it coming .... just didn't want to believe it ... this great man has exercised everyday for the 43 years we've been together ....is so healthy .. ... the best years of our lives... and they can be!

January 2018 ... broke my wrist in 4 places .... surgery .... plate ..... pins ... weekly physio .... definitely exercised intentionally every day .... just not to the caliber I was able to before the injury .... this "Energizer Bunny will never give up! lol"

September 2018 ..... Took a much needed summer break to reset the mind .....enjoyed soooo much food ..... soooo many treats.....no regrets..... Family healthy and happy :o) .... brushing myself off ......starting all over again .... with a SMILE....DETERMINATION .... returning to the team that's motivated me for years ..... the "5% Community Challenge " and " Rowdy Rebels" {{{HUGS}}}

October 2019 ..... I did it .... I did it .... finally .... initial goal 60 lbs weight loss

...... 2009 ..... 185 lbs.
...... 2019 ..... 125 lbs.

December 2019 .... Difficult year in certain areas ..... rewarding and positive in others ..... DH's illness .... a learning curve ...... a smile a day is all it takes ..... xoxoxo

Fitbit Inspire HR

1. Weigh, track and log everything I eat and drink. Enter all Nutritional Info. for every grocery purchased. It makes it so much easier for tracking.

2. Eliminate processed foods

3. Ensure that all necessary Nutrients are met (i.e. fibre, calcium, sodium, etc.)

4. 8-10 cups of water daily

5. Daily Intentional Exercises, unless I'm ill (i.e. Aerobics, dancing, weights, kettle bell, and stepping etc.) I get bored easily so I need to change it up in 10 minute intervals.

6. 10,000 Steps Daily.

7. Strength Training - 45 minutes daily

My first username was "ABUSEDIT" I felt I had abused my body with medications not only prescribed but what I felt at the time helped for my Chronic Migraines for years ... needed to make a change ... I was afraid to die and leave the family I loved soooo much .. as of 2008 no longer taking pain medication of any kind .... and so in came "DIDI_60LBS_BY 60" came close but no cigar until 2019 .... 7 years later.... ..... deeply reminded.... "Have Faith in your Journey... Everything had to happen exactly as it did ....to get you where you're going next" xoxo

I'm 67 years young :o) Married 44 years, soul mate, best friend, we have 2 Adult Children and 5 ADORABLE! Grandchildren and of course Moby the 4th" our Lovebird.
