what reasons do I need

My Goals:
I want to be around as my kids in their adult life. I want to feel comfortable in my clothes. I want to get rid of any health risks my weight may bring on.
Started 1/27/09--many ups and downs--overall I am getting very slowly healthier

My Program:
1. Track calories at least 5 of 7 days--works for me when I remember to do--that is why it is number one
2. Healthy fluids-tea and water- 64 oz a day--usually pretty easy for me
3. 5 fruits and veggies a day--love them but don't always do
4. 10,000 steps a day at least 5 of 7 days--walk dog if weather permits, get up and walk more at work and lunch
5. stop mindless TV, electronics--work on declutter and paperwork instead
6. strength training--has been on my list awhile and my least successful--- I will do this. I keep telling my self muscle burns more calories

Personal Information:
I have 2 kids-24 and 21 (grad school and college). 4 cats and 1 dog. My husband is a minister. My mom has dementia. I still have her in her own home (even though she doesn't think so). So I go over there every night and 3 times a day on weekends. Someone stays with her during day during the week.
I am 60 . That scares me health wise. So far overall I am doing well but I need to be healthier to increase the odds I will stay relatively healthy.

Other Information:
I enjoy kids-my own and others. I am a pediatrician. Working with kids, we all know we need to practice what we preach. So I need to eat healthier and exercise. Obesity is one of the biggest changes I have seen in over 30 years of practice--huge increase in overweight toddlers, children and teenagers .

Thanks for commenting on my page about my 65 lbs lost. I can hardly believe it myself (exept it's been a lot of effort and work - especially the exercising everyday)! I just wish I'd get rid of the belly fat and not so much on the rear end anymore - I'm feeling bony there! I plan to keep on going though as I want to see if eventually the belly reduces itself...
    Again, thanks!

Thanks for your support. It always works out for the better right? I have cried...have errands to run maybe that'll perk me up:). But so thankful to have support of good people like you. Just wanna curl up with my cat. I love that little feline...okay he's 14 pounds not so little, lol. See smiling already. Have a good day. Thanks again.

Thanks for congratulating me on my weight loss on my spark page. It's people like you who make this site so much fun!
I see we joined on the same day, and that you have lost more than half of the weight that you would like to lose! Congratulations, and I wish you the best as you continue your journey. It seems to me like it is getting harder, but now that we've put five months of time into this we HAVE to keep going! I'm glad I have a husband who not only supports me in this, but has joined me! That helps a lot.
Anyway, thanks again for your comments.
