My Goals:
I want to be around as my kids in their adult life. I want to feel comfortable in my clothes. I want to get rid of any health risks my weight may bring on.
Started 1/27/09--many ups and downs--overall I am getting very slowly healthier
My Program:
1. Track calories at least 5 of 7 days--works for me when I remember to do--that is why it is number one
2. Healthy fluids-tea and water- 64 oz a day--usually pretty easy for me
3. 5 fruits and veggies a day--love them but don't always do
4. 10,000 steps a day at least 5 of 7 days--walk dog if weather permits, get up and walk more at work and lunch
5. stop mindless TV, electronics--work on declutter and paperwork instead
6. strength training--has been on my list awhile and my least successful--- I will do this. I keep telling my self muscle burns more calories
Personal Information:
I have 2 kids-24 and 21 (grad school and college). 4 cats and 1 dog. My husband is a minister. My mom has dementia. I still have her in her own home (even though she doesn't think so). So I go over there every night and 3 times a day on weekends. Someone stays with her during day during the week.
I am 60 . That scares me health wise. So far overall I am doing well but I need to be healthier to increase the odds I will stay relatively healthy.
Other Information:
I enjoy kids-my own and others. I am a pediatrician. Working with kids, we all know we need to practice what we preach. So I need to eat healthier and exercise. Obesity is one of the biggest changes I have seen in over 30 years of practice--huge increase in overweight toddlers, children and teenagers .
