Too funny!!! I forgot the MOST important ingredient! Add the sauerkraut (2 cups or 1 pint if homemade/a small jar 500 g or 16 oz if it is store-bought) at the same time that you add the pork broth. Thanks for letting me know! Have a wonderful rest of the week...

Hi there! I love your photo of "jack sparrow" he is just too cute!!
You were asking about the sauerkraut soup (called 'kupisnak' -pronounced koop-i-snack- in ukranian) Here is the recipe: fry one small chopped onion in t tbsp canola oil, add 1 to 2 pound pork button bones (or any other type of pork meat you like) and fry until almost done. Add 1 - 3 bay leaf (depending on how big they are). Add pork broth just enough to cover the meat (2 - 3 cups). Simmer for at least half an hour (1 hour to 2 is best). My baba would serve with mashed potato. You can mix it in to make it like a creamy soup, or you can just take a spoon of mashed potato and take some of the soup with it - it is really rich and yummy!!
