Hmmm...what made it possible...well, feel free to read my blog entries - there's one called My Freudian Self-Analysis where I sort of wrote about what was holding me up.

What I would tell you is that I have known HOW to lose weight for years and years. I know exactly what it takes as far as what to eat, how much to eat, how to exercise, and how much to exercise. I bet you know all this stuff too. So it wasn't knowledge that tripped me up, it was inaction. I did a lot of thinking and writing and planning about how to lose weight, but I did not take action, at least consistently. So the one thing that made it possible to lose 30 lbs. has been BEING CONSISTENT with portion control and exercise. But in order to do that, I had to really think about why I wasn't taking action to begin with, you know? Then I made a new commitment to myself.

I'm not always consistent now, but part of starting Spark was to become consistent again to lose the remaining 50 lbs., because consistency is the only thing that works for me.

Oh - I also spent time on my computer writing out all the reasons I want to lose weight. I went into great detail, talking about different types of clothes I want to wear, how I will feel when I see old friends, the energy I will have on vacation, etc. I think that list was about 100 items long. I keep it with me all the time and look at it when i get discouraged.

Anyway, hope this is helpful! I don't consider myself a "success story" yet since I have a long way to go! So if you have any suggestions for me as far as what's working for you, I'd love to hear them! Good luck - you can do this.
