I joined Spark Feb. 08. I liked to work out and knew a little about nutrition. Using Spark's tracker helped me lose 5 pounds. I was in the best shape of my life and happy with how I looked. I've always been curvy and I just figured that was the size I'd always be.

Then I got pregnant, gained too much, didn't lose all the baby weight, got pregnant again, gained too much, and found myself in that typical mom-weight loss story.

I made a decision to change the direction of that story. I learned a lot more about nutrition. I eat whole foods and listen to my body. I don't believe that all calories are created equal.

More important than that number on the scale is the fact that I FEEL better than I ever have. I am enjoying life day to day. I am active with my family.

With the help of my husband I have become a runner. It's something the 4 of us do together. We call it "happy family time." It's something I do alone and call it "free therapy." I meet girlfriends for a run instead of happy hour. I run with my dad, something that had been a silent dream since watching him run marathons as a child.

2012 is about the love of running. That indescribable feeling. The miles. The training. The unknown: the marathon!

And now it's 2013. I know the marathon and I love running even more. This year will be about more miles and speed! weeeee!!

It feels good to surprise yourself. I'm doing things in my 30s that I used to watch other people do. We are so much stronger than we think.

Thanks for your support on my 10K blog. LOL I'll try to think of my hat chasing as "inspirational" instead of "stupid"

Awww you are so sweet to compliment me! I try to be honest about the time commitment because my friends are moms or teachers and everyone is being pulled every way - taking on another thing gets really hard when people aren't honest about how much time it can take. I hope I am better at it next semester now that I know what to expect. I don't know how much I changed them - but they definitely left their marks on my heart! :)

Thanks for your nice comments on my mini triathlon blog. It was way harder than I thought it was going to be, the swimming anyway but I'm glad I gave it a try.

I'm glad you enjoyed the blog. Odd things pop in my head from time to time to keep me moving!

I really appreciate your support. I hope you had a good weekend!

Thanks so much for your comments on my blog, especially for understanding how much the crowd and runner support meant to me this year. There's only so much one can write in a blog before it might get tedious to the reader, -but I interacted much more than my blog tells.
    Thanks again! Vic
