Introduction Text I've spent about half of my life being overweight. Thus, I can barely remember the last time I looked and felt thin. It was, however, when I was a child and the only evidence I have to remind me now are old photos. Well, I'm tired of looking at old photos. I'm tired of looking at myself in the mirror and despising the image I see. I'm tired of putting my life on hold as I continue to carry an extra person around. I'm tired of wasting the best years of my life. I no longer want to be insecure about my body. I no longer want to hide the best aspects of my personality under a bushel. I no longer want to live life unhealthily, halfheartedly, and without purpose. It's time. Time to get off the whole weight loss merry-go-round that I've been on for too long now. Time to take control of my body and my life. Time to transform the glorious mental image I have of myself as a beautiful, strong, vivacious woman into a living and breathing person. It's time for change. My ultimate goal within the next year is to lose 150 pounds. It's an ambitious goal but one that I intend on reaching. I am 24 going on 25. Sunny southern California is the place I call home. I am in my last year of school and will soon have my bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. I look forward to making a difference in the world through my writing. I am continuing to discover who I am as a person on a day-to-day basis. In the process, I am learning how to deal with change and how to be more confident in my own skin. This current period of my life is a transformative one and at the end of it, I intend to be a happier, more beautiful, and more independent woman.

I am a hopeful (rather than hopeless) romantic. My main motivation in life is to love and be loved. I'm part modern, part old fashioned. I appreciate technology and new age philosophies. But I'm also interested in any and all things vintage. Fashion, movies, music, art, you name it. I love to laugh and play. I also enjoy the art of meaningful communication. Deep, intellectual discussions inspire me.
