Below the line of asterisks was the beginning of my Spark Story.
I've been gone TOO LONG and my image in the mirror tells me that every time I look.

At least 9 years have floated away (today is 8/10/20), and I now need this community again to get my health and weight where it was for a good long while, but now needs to be achieved again.

With COVID-19 taking its toll in the world and in my state, I'm missing my friends and close acquaintances more than ever. I seem to be filling that void with carbohydrates and sitting....

The hopeful thing is: I've DONE IT BEFORE...so I have NO EXCUSE to not do it again!

Here I go...I hope you join me for the journey!

In May of 2008, I embarked on this adventure of changing my lifestyle and taking better care of my health.

I started out at 300 (which stunned the heck out of me, but explained why my knees and feet hurt so much!!), but am currently (11/13/11) at 187.

SparkPeople has offered advice, information, and fun which has helped me stay on target. The best part, though, has been the like-minded travelers whose journeys offer ME the best advice, information, and damn! if they ain't FUN to boot!

The most difficult thing for me is being more consistently active. As much as I like having DONE exercise & do feel better--no doubt about it!--I fight with myself every day to do SOMETHING. It is getting easier, but only in small ways. Guess I'll have to keep building on those....

I write science fiction, poetry, stage & screenplays, and am currently working on a SF novel for YA. I am currently running a poetry workshop, and am also a freelance editor.

I am the Events Manager for The Plant City Community Choir which in its 3 years has grown from 12 voices to 40! We have been invited back for the 3rd time to EPCOT to sing in the 300-voice Massed Choir for Christmas. This year we had to turn down invitations to sing at local venues due to being too busy!!!

I sing Alto 2 (REAL women sing low!) in a community chorale & am an ESOL Literacy tutor.

I lost Dad 8/9/10 & Mom 5/20/11.
I STILL mourn them on occasion and still miss their advice, company and love.

    Lol. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I believe you will get to your goal weight and I think it is a good idea setting up mini goals like you have. A stage 1 and stage 2 so to say. I mean goodness. Almost 75 lbs!!!??!!! That is absolutely AWESOME! Congrats! You have come a long way already.

    I am interested to see where this story goes. I hope it doesn't stall.

    You always have a way of putting things in perspective for me, Thank You! You are doing fantastic! How have you been? I have been terrible at keeping in touch, last semester wore me down(but I won in the end!) I have been working on regaining ground I lost from October through the New Year, but I'm almost there. I love "the weenies" We will be them soon, I just have to adjust my thinking! I've done it before, I can do it again. Hope you are well, and thank you for keeping track of me, even if I have been a slacker of late!

    With a 70 lb. loss already, I'd say you have it down pretty good. I'm happy for you that you had that special time with your cousin. It's so important to have family and friends around. It gives you a better quality of life. I have no doubt that you will get back on track immediately. You're such a strong woman, why would you doubt yourself for a second. You too, are in my prayers daily. I think about you every day knowing I have a wonderful person on my side. That is a world of comfort to me.

    I went to the doctor the other day. She had me get an MRI of my head. She was under the impression I had Alzheimer's. Turns out, I have been having mini-strokes and I have Type 2 diabetes. Plus high cholesterol. She put me on meds., told me to lose weight(duh), and stop smoking. The weight is doable, the smoking (???????????????)
    She gave me a prescription for "Chantix", a stop smoking aid. I've tried literally every thing else and it didn't work, but I'm giving this a good go so I hope it works. The smoking contributes to the mini-strokes. She said if I lose the weight, I could come off the diabetes medicine. So, please keep the prayers coming, I'm going to need all that I can get.

    Wow!!!! Every time I see that 70 lbs. I am amazed. You're awesome.
    I tried adding you as one of my friends about a month ago and it didn't work, so I just tried it again. Hope it works this time.
    I had to go private due to someone I know joining sparkpeople. She certainly needs to lose weight, but I think she joined just so she could keep an eye on me. We don't get along very well and I'm sure she thinks she could pick up some sort of info to use against me maybe in the future. She's sneaky like that. I hope by going private I have stopped her from viewing my sparkpage. What do you think?
