Introduction Text Hi, I am very excited to be with Spark People. I started my journey on 1/1/2012 and am still utilizing this site to help with my weight loss journey. UPDATED 2020 ~ June 17,2020 ~ Here I am AGAIN. I have gained a lot of my weight back. I need support and motivation. Hoping to find some new groups and spark friends to help me on my journey. 2018 ~ On August 28, 2018, I went to my doctor for my yearly checkup. I got my lab results back to find out that I am a diabetic. This hit me like hard. You see my mother and my father lived as diabetics. My mother was on pill meds and my father took insulin. My mother did not control her diabetes and due to complications from that she had her first stroke at the age of 49. She lived with dementia until she finally passed away at the age of 54 in 1996. My goal is to continue losing weight but my bigger goal is to control this diabetes and live a longer life than my mother did. On August 29, 2018, I started living a low carb journey. I am determined to kick diabetes butt and to control my own life!! 2018 ~ I am back. Time for me to get motivated and get back on track. I have retired from the dental field after 25 years. I am now working a much slower paced job and loving it. Life is what you make it. And I am making it enjoyable. 2015 has arrived and I am still here. 2014 proved to be a successful year for me. I had joined Planet Fitness in December 2013 and I love it there. I went faithfully and lost 50 pounds in 8 months. Holidays arrived and yes I am proud to say that I only gained 9 pounds during this holiday season so another step toward achieving a better me. Just remember, we didn't gain it overnight so we are not going to lose it overnight. Let's keep sparking and moving forward. 8/29/2016...Here I am back again. I have maintained my weight loss but it's time to get this journey finished. I am now a Nana and now have more motivation to finish this.

I want to be Healthier and live a long live to watch my grandchildren grow up.

*Track food intake. *Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. *Walk at least 5 days a week. *Strength train 2-3 days a week. *Log into sparkpeople daily for support.

Gayla Cave In Rock, Illinois First and foremost, I love Jesus. I love my husband Daniel. I love my two sons, Ethan and Austin. I love my daughter-in-law, Courtney. I absolutely LOVE my grandchildren, Grayson, Everly, Philip and Hadley. Now I need to learn to love ME again.
