Thanks for your comment on my blog. You had asked what kind of rewards I use. Well...I have used many over the past year. Mostly they are fitness gadgets or other fitness items. Some of the bigger (more expensive) rewards have been the GymBoss interval timer ($20), new sneakers, new workout shorts, Nike Plus for running with my ipod, Wii Fit Plus, and a new cookbook. When I have less money to spend I might buy a couple of itunes songs,a new headband, go to Goodwill for better fitting clothes (after all, I plan to lose more weight and I don't want to spend a fortune while losing) or promise to set aside time for reading or a manicure. I saved gift cards that I got for Christmas and use them for rewards so I don't feel like I am always spending money. For a while I was only planning rewards for weight lost...a huge bummer when I hit a plateau. So I have started to reward behavior (like staying within calorie range for a whole weekend or working out a certain number of days within a week) and I have found it keeps me far more motivated. It seems silly that I am trying to kind of "trick myself," but really it works. Good luck to you!
