After the first year here at S/P, I've experienced progress but have gone through some setbacks as well. Winter in the midwest isn't conducive to outdoor exercise, at least not the type I enjoy. A 'health' club membership definitely helps but nothing can replace the medatative aspects of those long bike rides out in Nature. Will be in better shape this year than I was in 09 and am looking forward to adding more advanced level hiking to the rotation. Here's to a successful 2nd year of Sparkin'.

My Goals:
To lead a healthier, happier life. My kids (and family) are the most important people in the world to me. I want to share as much quality time with them as I possibly can.

My Program:
I weigh everything down to the gram. The extra effort is essential. I push myself to get the cardio in, especially when I don't want to do it. I alone am responsible for my health and well being. Excuses don't work here. I cross-train so as not to become bored or concentrate on just one thing. Cycling, treadmill intervals, walking, and yoga are a few practices in my regular rotation.

Personal Information:
I love books and am usually juggling 2 or 3 at a time. Not hooked on any particular genre, whatever strikes at the moment will do. Ditto "old" movies made in the 30's and 40's. The glamor, the class, the elegance is sadly missing in todays world. Television, meh. I can take it or leave it. I am unattached and loving every second of it.

Other Information:
Balance is the key to my happiness. Intellectual, physical, and spiritual aspects must all be in sync for me to function at my best.
I am a proud pagan. The path I've chosen isn't always an easy one but it is always a rewarding one. I've learned that there are no shortcuts.

    Just a question... I saw your post about aldis and was wondering if you use their fit and active brands? I have tryed some things like the frozen convenient meals and snack foods but they seem to taste to well for a healthy meal...

    Gianni - You're a true spark success story! Congrats on meeting your goal! As I've learned, maintaining is a whole new exercise in this journey. Still gotta stay on top of things... after all your hard work you don't want to see the weight creeping back on!
    I love that you keep track of your biking miles also! Are you keeping track for fun or do you have a goal you're trying to reach?
