You still have family in Greece? Cousins and such? What part of Greece?

When I was 19, my soph year of college, my father had a Fulbright to work at IOKAI, the oceanographic research center outside Athens. We lived in Kalamaki, had Greek lessons twice a week in the city. I sent books over and had an independent study program for college - read everything from Bullfinch's Mythology to Plato and Aristotle to Pausanias to all the Greek playwrights. My last quarter I focused on modern (1973-74) Greek authors. I also planned weekend trips all over the country for our family, so I could visit sites that I'd read about. Spent days in museums and archaeological sites. Dad helped a professor looking for a sunken city.

By the time we left, I could understand conversations on the bus, and I even had a dream in Greek!!!

    It was a fabulous year!!!
