I have been struggling with my weight loss for years. I was a skinny kid, and a pretty fit teenager. Everything went down hill pretty fast when I started having kids. I know a lot of people gain weight with pregnancy and have trouble taking it back off. I lost the weight after childbirth, then gained it back post-partum. I went up a couple sizes in between each pregnancy. At one point I was about 276 pounds! At that point I was considering weight loss surgery. A friend talked me into trying Hcg instead. I lost about 70 pounds and kept it off for a while, but when I stopped the hcg, the weight started coming back. I ended up gaining back about half of what was lost. Prior to that, I was successfully doing the Atkins diet. Again, I lost around 70 pounds. I stopped it when I found out I was pregnant again. I wish I hadn't. It was not a difficult diet for me to stick with. I was a single parent when I started it. I was solely responsible for meal planning and prep and it was easy to keep the high carb foods out of the house. Then I married a carb-oholic. It is sooo hard to have a low carb lifestyle when your spouse is eating chips ahoy in front of you every night and buys them in bulk so they are always around. I work, he doesn't so he is in charge of meal prep. Every meal every day has potatoes, pasta or rice as a main course. My husband is the biggest obstacle I have to losing weight. He also needs to lose weight, as his doctors keep telling him. He scoffs at that since he is slender everywhere except his belly. I wish I could get him to lose weight with me. Later this week I am going to talk to a bariatric surgeon about having the procedure done. I know I will still have to change my eating habits and get off my ass and get moving. I just wish I had more support at home.

I LOVE the Atkins Diet, and I am excited that you have joined the team. So Welcome, welcome, welcome! I hope you become an active member so that we all can enjoy your company! It is gonna be slow going getting started --the team has no leader, and it IS January after all -- but with some enthusiasm shown by all the new members, we can really make it happen and get close and be supportive - or make the weight go away; I am good with that!

Incidentally, there are a few long time active members (I am one), so there is good support out there to be had for the asking. Again, welcome and glad to have you!

P.S. U have GOT 2 update your status, girl!
