Despite my weight, I like this picture. (So much so that I'm growing out my hair again!)

Hi there! I'm so glad to meet you (or maybe this is a reintroduction? I've been here and gone a bit over the years!)

My name is Kate and I'm a mom of two beautiful and busy toddlers and I'm an executive at a mid-sized media company. I'm a bit of a workaholic (and I LOVE my job) so when I'm not working, I'm leaning hard into my little family.

Years ago, I lost about 25 lbs on Spark, but since then, there's been a lot of life! I had my two babies, and gained and lost a lot of weight and then last year I had spinal fusion surgery. It was life-changing, following many years of chronic pain, but it also left me in a large brace and unable to pick up my kids or do much activity at all for about 5 months.

More than a year out from that experience, I just want to be healthy and strong for me and my babies.

I love decorating my old Victorian house (and my friends' houses!), organizing pretty much anything, going antiquing with my husband and belly laughing with my kids.

I live in Cincinnati now, but went to grad school at Northwestern and lived in Chicago for a while and loved it.

And now I'm hoping this is going to be the next fabulous phase of my life--hopefully with a bit higher self esteem and energy and a little smaller dress size!

Thanks for the comment on my page! I just now saw it--I don't think SP ever e-mailed me.

FIL is doing OK. He is done with his first round of treatments, so we're just waiting on the MRI results at 3 months out. As you saw in my blog, it's been hot as Hades here, but FINALLY this week the heat broke and today it was actually chilly! I was in heaven :)

    Thanks for checking in!

I just wanted to tell you how incredibly helpful your comment was on my blog (though I'm so sorry you lost your FIL). I was crying and nodding along as I read it because it is exactly how I'm feeling right now, right down to the feelings of fear of losing my own parents. This is 100% where I am right now. Thank you so much for this. Although it absolutely sucks that someone else has gone through losing a loved one (and even worse not getting a chance to prepare for it), it is so helpful to hear that you were able to make it through to the other side.

I have considered going to counseling for myself, even if my H won't go. I think it might be helpful and I plan to look into it here as things progress. Thank you again.

Thanks for dropping by to comment. It does help to know that I am not the only one that has this.

I mentioned it to a friend this weekend and she was like "well, just so you know, I would have never known this and I think you are the definition of awesome and you have never said anything that I think is off/offensive/boring.

Of course, later, I said something about discipline and I was like "oh, did I cross the line?"
