Jamie
My name is Jamie.
In 2007, SparkPeople helped me lose 20 pounds. I have been through a lot in the past three years and I've gained 40 pounds through the process.
In the fall of 2007 I started law school. It was a tough adjustment and I started to let both my diet and my exercise regime slip. Each year I would make goals and would work halfheartedly towards them. I almost ran a marathon, but I suffered an unnecessary injury from lack of proper training.

In the fall of 2007 I started law school. It was a tough adjustment and I started to let both my diet and my exercise regime slip. Each year I would make goals and would work halfheartedly towards them. I almost ran a marathon, but I suffered an unnecessary injury from lack of proper training.
This last year has proven to be the most trying of them all. In March I lost my grandfather to an ugly battle with cancer. In April, my husband and I found out we were pregnant after three months of trying to conceive. In May we discovered that I suffered from a blighted ovum and miscarried the baby. The miscarriage took place during my last set of law school finals and graduation; it was a rough couple of weeks. We decided to jump back on the horse and began trying to conceive once again. I took the Bar Exam in July and I failed due to all of the distractions of trying to conceive and the miscarriage. In September I found out I was pregnant once again. After an early ultrasound it was confirmed that there was a viable fetus with a strong heartbeat. Unfortunately, I miscarried 10 weeks into the pregnancy. My doctors have told me that a) nothing I've done has caused either miscarriage and b) the miscarriages have nothing in common and that I've just been struck with bad luck. However, this recent miscarriage has been incredibly hard on me and my faith that we will be able to conceive a healthy baby.
Instead of allowing things to spiral out of control, I woke up the morning after and decided that I needed to push past all of this negativity and focus on my health and my studies. During both pregnancies I was worried about weight management and exercising during pregnancy since I'd been living such a sedentary lifestyle while studying for the Bar exam. I've realized that I had been given the opportunity to focus on nothing but exercising, eating healthy and studying.
I'm proud to say that I have officially passed the Bar exam and I found a job. I am now looking forward to starting my career as an attorney while continuing to achieve a healthy living comeback.
I have also decided to become a vegetarian after years of battling with my aversion to meat. I am becoming a vegetarian for a mixture of reasons including my health and ethical and environmental concerns.
When I first joined Spark it was to lose weight to start a new chapter in my life (law school), and then it was to be happy and comfortable for my wedding. Now I want to lose weight and become healthy for myself and the future of my family.

Your puppy is adorable! :) Ours is a Swiss white shepherd (also known as Canadian white shepherd). You're right, they do originate from white german shepherds.
