Hi, my name is Heidi. I am addicted to food and use it to cope with problems and ignore fixing them.

When I think back on my weight and how I've felt about my body, it's at once very clear and yet a bit of a blur. For as long as I can remember, I've always been the "big boned girl". Growing up, all of my friends were consistently smaller or skinnier than me and everyone told me so, even my family. As a kid, I never thought, "Gee, I'm fat", but when I got into middle school and hit puberty, I ballooned from 106 lbs to 132 in one year. I lived with my dad who was a tad over weight himself and who cooked things like steak, brats, pork, and hamburgers every night for dinner. I can remember more than once my dad ordering two medium meat lovers pizzas-- one for him, one for me. We'd sit down and devourer the whole thing and not think a thing of it. Everything we ate was delicious but it was making me fat and I had no idea. As a teen, I remember being over 145 lbs and thinking it was because I had a bigger chest. I'd see other girls my age who were unimaginably tiny, but think I was just created to be bigger. I struggled with eating issues on and off all through my teen years but never successfully accomplished weight loss through those means.

Things changed in my life when I was 15 and met the boy who'd later become my husband. Love struck me hard and I was in such a dizzy from it that I forgot to eat. Hunger seemingly didn't hurt anymore and I no longer ate out of boredom because I was constantly distracted by love. Without having any clue whatsoever, I dropped 20-25 lbs in a few months. I only noticed because one night while a very thin friend was sleeping over, I decided to entertain us by attempting to try on her tiny size 4 jeans. They slipped right on and zipped right up. She and I were both stunned to silence and I could not believe what I was seeing. Her jeans had never even come close to fitting me before; I literally thought my eyes were playing tricks on me! I weighed myself and the number starring back at me on the scale was equally unbelievable: 123. I was 16 and hadn't seen such a low number on the scale since I was 11. That one night changed everything.

Suddenly, where there had been no hope in sight for a 'big boned' girl, I beheld a 'skinny minny' and it set a standard by which I'd measure myself for years to come. After that night, I quickly figured out that it was my lack of appetite that got me skinny and I maintained a thin figure by eating very little. At one point, I allowed myself only one meal a day and that came in the form on a 6' turkey sub from subway. However, eventually I couldn't go on ignoring my hunger; I couldn't bare to sit at a table where everyone else was eating delicious food and enjoying themselves, while I listened to my tummy growl and was miserable. Couple that with the bad eating habits and lack of a good healthy role model in my dad, I quickly slipped back into my old eating habits and packed on the weight.

I'm 23 now and have two children with another on the way. I do not believe I've been 123 on my scale since the summer I stumbled upon my dramatic weight loss. Besides my pregnancy weight (which I don't count) my highest weight has been 155 and my lowest 147. My husband and his entire family are all very naturally thin people who have metabolisms that are faster than race cars. They eat everything they want, whenever, in whatever quantity. I HATE feeling left out so it's been VERY difficult to lose/keep the weight.

I'm looking to change my entire mindset concerning eating and exercise. It's very helpful that I realize that I never had a good model for eating/exercise and in fact was taught very bad and unhealthy things. I'm glad I at least know that I don't know so I can turn around and know!

My Goals:
UPDATED! Though my goals are very much the same, I am now expecting my third child and realize that I can no longer expect to lose weight. I do, however, view this pregnancy as a perfect opportunity to get consistent about exercise and work on my issues with eating/overeating. It's time I face this giant in my life and find the freedom for which I so desperately long! I'm due in Nov. 2009 and would like to avoid gaining 45-50 lbs as I did in my two previous pregnancies...

It's my goal to get back to the weight I was five years ago before I got married and had two kids.

More specifically, I would like to lose the last 20 pounds of my pregnancy weight, see 130 on the scale, and fit into my size 6 jeans again.

My Program:
--I recently ordered Tracy Anderson Method Presents Mat and Cardio workouts. I LOVE the mat workout and plan to do it as long as my ever-expanding belly will allow.
--I do Coach Nicole's Butt Blasting workout every day, 6x's a week and have worked my way up to doing it twice in a row!

--I just ordered Turbo Jam's Fat Blaster Workout. I love it. It's short but VERY intense. I would like to do this 3-4 times a week until my belly says, "No more" and then attempt to walk as a form of cardio.

--Very shortly I will be ordering the Perfect Pregnancy Workout DVD about which I've read great reviews... I'm not sure how I'll fit this into my workout regime yet, but I'd like to work on taking my days one at a time, so I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

My name is Heidi and I'm a young mother of two with number three on the way. I live in the beautiful and one-of-a-kind city of Austin, TX!

Two years ago, after my last child was born, I lost 34 of the 54 pounds I had to lose by doing Tae Bo. It took me 8 weeks and while doing it, I loved every minute. Sadly, around that time, our family tragically lost two very close friends. The subsequent sadness I experienced from losing them took most of my energy. Fitness and my goal of losing the whole 54lbs fell to the wayside.

It took a bit to get well after losing them, but now that I am, I'm recommitting myself to losing that last 20 pounds!

    Your old page? Yeah, I noticed the privacy bar tree over hubby's face too, haha! I've showed his face on here before, so whatever, but it just worked out that way. I can barely recognize myself in the old picture, I guess I always looked thin in my head. :|

    Chicken Stir Fry Wraps

    1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, havled horizontally and thinly sliced

    Coarse salt and ground pepper

    2 tablespoons olive oil

    1 large onion, halved and thinly sliced

    1 large bell pepper, ribs and seeds removed, thinly sliced

    3 garlic cloves, minced

    1 1/2 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger

    1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

    3 tablespoons soy sauce

    3 tablespoons rice vinegar

    1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water

    12 to 16 Boston lettuce leaves (about 2 heads)

    1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. In a larch nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the oil over high heat. Add half the chicken; cook, stirring constantly, until opaque throughout, 2-4 minutes. Transfer to a plate. Repeat with remaining chicken.

    2. Add the remaining tablespoon oil to the pan, along with the onion and bell pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until the onion is tender and golden, about 4 minutes (reduce the heat if browning too quickly).

    3. Reduce the heat to medium; add the garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to the pan; cook, stirring, until fragrant, 30-60 seconds.

    4. Stir in the soy sauce, vinegar, and cornstarch mixture; remove from the heat. Add the chicken and any accumulated juices; toss to coat. Serve in lettuce cups.

    4 servings. Each serving: 298 calories; 9 grams fat; 42 grams protein; 11 grams carbohydrates; 2 grams fiber

    Dude, I know exactly what you mean about being emotionally ready! I felt like I had enough to focus on with learning how to be a wife without worrying about spending time on exercise, and enough about learning how to cook a whole meal every night to worry about cooking a healthy one. Yah. And I know it may be different now with bebe on the way since losing weight is not really a good thing, but I've done all the steps and stages thus far and it really takes you through them slowly and thoroughly. It's really been exactly what I needed. You can start over at stage one and it sends you emails about what you're supposed to be focusing on.
