9/2018 Update: I've had a significant setback, and find myself at 231 and barely exercising. I've spent enough time bemoaning how this could have happened, and I just want to find myself back on a healthy path again. (I'd also like thighs that don't rub, and I'm keen to lose the "michelin man" look down my back :-P !!)

12/7/2016 Update: Leading up to turning 50 most of my goals went something like “lose 50 for my 50th”. Well, 50 came today, and the weight didn’t leave. However, I did gain an awareness of how blessed I am. My life is full of love, and though I am far from rich, I have enough. I now feel the urge to pursue a healthy lifestyle more for the practical reasons of wanting to be healthier, stronger and more flexible to do things I want to do in the years to come. I have come to the realization that reaching a certain weight loss number by a certain date won’t make life magically better, but giving in to apathy, and letting the pounds creep on as my fitness plummets also makes no sense! It is time to care enough to treat myself to a healthy lifestyle. You want change? Then change something!

Hello all =) My name is Holly, and I'm an avid reader of all things diet and fitness. The problem is, I haven't been an avid follower of any of the great wealth of knowledge I've read!! I'll be 44 in December of 2010, and have decided it is time to put the books down and just get off the couch and get on with getting healthy. I began a walking/jogging program around August/September with the goal of running a 5K in October. I wasn't able to run the entire 5K, but it felt awesome to compete, and now I'm determined to keep working toward that goal. I want to lose 50-60 lbs before my 45th birthday, run a 5K with out walking any of it, and end 2011 being able to compete in a 4 mile, cross country "mud run" in early 12/2011! I've entitled my page "Project Holly" because I need to do this for myself, and not feel guilty that I'm putting the time, effort and $ into these goals. Ready, set, GO!

My name is Holly and I live in a small town in Northern Illinois. I'm married and have a 22 year old son, a golden doodle and two cats =). I'm an avid reader, and have a love of all things crafty - knitting is on the top of the list right now.

While running my first 10K on a hilly course (it was a "run through the hills!"), I used the mantra "lean in," to help carry me up those hills. As i did that, I thought this is the attitude I need to bring to all things health and wellness: when it gets tough, don't back down, lean in

    Hey you again,

    I'm not really sure what causes the top of the foot pain. It's a weird thing because I had ball of the foot pain while running the FW marathon and then when I ran the Dallas WR marathon didn't have pain at all. I didn't get the pain in the top of my foot until the Mon. after, kind of like residual pain. It lasted an entire week and a half. All I did was not run, ice it and take ibuprofen the entire week & a half. Now I am all better. I was told it could be a stress fracture that's been happening slowly and gradually but I don't know and am not going to get it checked by a dr. until it happens again.

    Hope you figure out what the foot pain you are having is and if it continues.

    Thanks for the comment to my blog of being a pescatarian. My plan to cook some delicious vegan sides that would compliment carnivores Thanksgiving day dinner, worked out well. They were quite the hit and I was totally surprised but happy at the same time.

    Thanks for your comment on my blog. I'm fortunate that my 15 yo DS has always been a fitness nut (football player), and double fortunate that he'll still workout with me! Maybe your DS will get the bug too - having you as a role model surely won't hurt!
